Yeah, guys, I’m talking about *the* biggest bands in the scene/music.

Dude Jared Leto is playing WWWY and none of those bands give a shit. He’s still getting roles with Disney for Christ sake. So no *the* biggest bands aren’t going to make a fuss over BN

 

Fall Out Boy and BMTH just had a tour together.

 

Are you really sitting here and telling me that Blink 182 would take a stand against Brand New and refuse to play with them if it was somehow set up, not that I reaaaally see a show like that happening but

No. I’m saying those bands would have nothing to gain by playing a show with Brand New.

 

I do know they turned it down. I also know many bands wouldn’t do anything if it happened, but believe some would and would just be replaced because the people booking the show have to care, and they don’t if they think they can make money.

 

Except the money they’d be earning by playing the festival. You were just told two of the biggest bands are playing a festival with people just as bad as Jesse and you’re just ignoring it

I don’t think I live in a bubble, and everyone I know that loved BN just as much as everyone here, would not bat an eye at a reunion.

I think like 60% of my friends would not go support them through a live show, but I bet 98% of them would listen to a new record if it was released.

and based off their Apple Music profiles, most of them are still listening to their old records.

 

I mean yeah, I still listen to a lot of their records, but I certainly wouldn't see them on tour

 

The Jesse thing was referenced in the where are your boys tonight book and so many big band members were featured in that book. if any of them agreed to play a show with them and then tried to act cute and like they didn't know of the allegations... like it isn't a secret.

 

It wasn't referenced by any of the band members, though. The most anti-Brand New sentiment from a fellow musician in that book was the guitarist for All-American Rejects saying that they had big egos and thought they were so much better and artsier than everyone else, which... I mean, Devil and God and Move Along came out around the same time, and one is universally more critically acclaimed than the other as high art, so his quotes just read like jealousy and sour grapes over that.

 

I hate that I’m even fantasy booking it, but if Brand New came back, they’re not playing with other pop-punk bands of their era. They’d be playing other creep bands like Pinegrove, Front Bottoms or just linking back up with Modest Mouse because Issac Brock wouldn’t care. I truly wish they could just be like Sorority Noise and stay dead. But yeah, it’s inevitable that they would come back and be bigger than ever.

 

A lot of people underestimate how easily men are forgiven of monstrous actions by the people that make money from them.

 

Not to continue this argument but it's funny that a page or so back someone mentioned that "scene leaders" like Manchester Orchestra would never allow this sort of thing and then you mention TFB, who I think was just on The Stuffing, and Issac Brock who Andy was just recently hanging out with.

Again I think that any new music that Jesse was playing was probably part of a grieving process for something totally unrelated to Brand New and why they ended. At this point most people either don't know or remember what exactly he did (I know I don't really remember any details) so yeah if they ever did come back a lot of people wouldn't care and be excited but I think this has kinda just gotten people worked up when I don't think they need to be.

 

I'd just ask that folks consider what his victims may be feeling upon seeing those photos.. regardless of the intent.

 

A lot of the photos have been deleted, it was supposed to be a friends and family event: my guess is they didn’t want this to be publicized at all. I guess things can always leak out, but I’d say that if a past abuser did want to continue to perform in anyway, this would be the best medium; rather than announcing some sort of comeback your with a fluff piece article? Of course if they end up being public and this was like a “soft opening” that would be a different conversation

Yeah I don't want it to be misconstrued that I don't think victims shouldn't care if he/brand new attempt a return but I just thought that people kind of freaked out about a small friends/family event that wasn't promoted at all when I don't think they necessarily need to be.
