If you've read a bunch of articles from the site already then you might get a paywall. I had a warning myself saying it's my last free article.

Yeah, it's a pretty janky site. I cannot tell you the last time I visited Rolling Stone and got the same warning but the article was already behind the paywall. Thankfully I was able to refresh the page and stop it from loading before the paywall popped up.

But that's all besides the point.

One thing I'm glad to see from the article is that his victims seem to, for the most part, be finding the healing and support they need and are even using their tragedy to create a support network for other victims, both of his and others in the music industry, which is great to see even if it's unfortunate it has to exist in the first place.

I was going to quote some parts of the article but decided not to for sake of TWs. It’s completely maddening that UK police chose not to pursue charges for one of the victims because “she did not say no,” which could have gotten word out earlier about his disgusting behavior, and could have prevented future victims. Broken ass system.

i remember in the early 2000s, in their liner notes and publicly, anti-flag had this bit where they always claimed to be 19. giving these disturbing revelations, that bit had to be justin trying to lure in younger fans.

ok, my suspicions are confirmed in the RS article where they state justin claimed to be that age to the 17 year old girl's parents. fuck.

    this is so disgusting.

I can't even imagine. I remember being a teenage girl at warped and I would've died and gone to heaven if any band members I liked stopped and gave me attention, even if it was just to sell me something. I was so naive it would've been so easy to be lured into a bad situation thinking it was an innocent encounter.

I always bring this up in these convos but I remember being 17 at a show and some crew for a band asked me and my friend our ages and as soon as I said 17 they turned their backs on us and noped out of the convo. I remember feeling offended that they turned away and stopped chatting to us, like offended they wanted nothing to do with us for even a friendly encounter but tbh I'm grateful now and that's what they should've done. We were 17 and they had no reason to talk to us. What would we have talked about like my geography exam the next day? Like bye. But you feel so much older and in control when you're a teenager and think you're more mature and invincible than you are. It always hurts my heart that people pray on that

I've asked maybe a dozen times on this site what an appropriate statement from a band is. I know this is slightly different since it's coming from the other band members that weren't necessarily involved - but this, I think, is very appropriate. I'm sure, like usual, someone else can poke holes in it and give an opinion on why it's still lackluster. But, I believe they're sincere and had no idea of what was going on. Glad they called him out and still sick that we lost a great punk band to a fucking asshole.

It doesn't address the part of the article where one of the women said the band knew he was with her and she was a minor, iirc (I read the article but correct me if I'm misremembering details now but i def remember her stating the band knew something was going on)

That’s a tricky situation to gague as an outsider because short of Justin or the victim themselves telling the others she was underage, which seems unlikely given Chris #2’s history involving abuse, how would they have known that? I suppose the victim could have clearly looked like a minor physically speaking and she may be suggesting it should have been obvious, but I dunno. It’s a weird thing for me personally to really take a firm stance on without more information about the encounter. Information we probably won’t ever get

Either way, very glad these victims found the strength to come forward so they could finally expose Justin as the monster he so clearly is. Fuck that scumbag forever. Hope he rots

That's more in line with the kind of statement I wish they made from the start and it's slightly disappointing it took until 13 speaking out to say it, but good to see they're getting there.

Finally had more time to go back to it in the article:

"The women, alongside some of the band’s fans, also chastised the other band members for failing to take an immediate hard stance against Geever publicly or even acknowledge the blind eye they may have turned, as three women claim some of the members were present when Geever brought them on tour, backstage, or on the tour bus as teenagers and young women. “They knew how young everybody was,” Rebecca, who dated a then-25-year-old Geever as a 17-year-old in the late 1990s, claims. “There was a clear boundary that he kept crossing over and over that should have raised flags for everybody.”

Doesn't specify which members but sounds like some ppl knew at some point and didnt do anything. I thought it was just one woman but three of them said it was known

  19. Yeah, unless I missed something, I don't think anything in that article points to an accountability issue. They were both teens and it doesn't sound like he badgered her. Pretty normal behavior

  21. It's so wild seeing what people are willing to post about abusive artists publicly. Just saw someone tweet "I'm one of five women at the Swans show" and I couldn't help but think, gee, I wonder if there's a reason more women wouldn't want to go to a Swans show
