  1. More along the lines of taking abusive bands on tour, plugging their music, etc.

Wow, had no idea about that, that's absolutely ridiculous

  4. They're not to educate new users. One is to educate new users on how to use the forum and give guidance on informal/formal rules and posting tips. I think most forums should have 2, at most, pinned threads.

Reading that thread I linked to earlier, I actually didn't know the whole JJR thing went deeper than him being TWY tour manager and friends of a few bands. The Four Year Strong thing is fucking mad to me.

he goes really really deep in that 2008-2013 pop punk scene. one of the most beloved people to a lot of those bands, and that's why it's so fucking frustrating

he's also in a band still that gets shows. same with harry. it's gross.

  8. Should look up the booking agents, managers, labels, and relatively 'big' agencies that still work with him on basically a daily basis. His career was virtually unaffected.

  9. Harry is pretty widely booked and it legitimately pisses me off.

  10. I read this post two years ago, and it wasn't actually that wrong in how it's played out:
But anyways my point is JJR isn't just their manager, he's their friend. He's been their friend for years. He's friends and involved with so many bands. The Long Island scene is tight and you can connect a lot of people to Bellweather.

Exactly. I'm baffled by the fact that so many people were furious with you over saying this in relation to the 30STM thread and yet they're telling me to post with tact regarding State Champs. I understand a link would have helped. I saw the thread being repeatedly bumped throughout the day, so I posted something quick from my phone.

As you said, most people have already made up their minds about whether or not what a band/artist did is "big" enough for them to stop supporting them. If a person did not know about the situation or who JJR was and wanted to find out, I would've gladly explained it.

harry's band came up here a few weeks ago, and they were playing with a band who got accused of stealing some girl's pics off her phone while they were staying over at her house on tour. based on the fb event, it was extremely well attended at a respected venue through a very respected local promoter. not sure if people know and don't care, or if it was buried way before regulate started getting hype.

  16. Most people know. Regulate was added to This Is Hardcore and I forget the exact wording the guy used to justify putting them on but it was bullshit.

Regulate and more specifically Harry have actually gotten more opportunities than most bands in that scene. They’re playing the biggest hardcore festival, they are on a massive fall/winter lineup, going overseas to play sometime next year.

And nobody cares. And if they do care, they are still supporting the band by going to shows that they’re on.

That's because the hardcore scene is all "good dude, backed hard" for certain individuals when their indiscretions fly beneath the radar. But y'know, let's just book his band on a summer tour playing decent sized venues because they bring awesome straight edge mosh riffs:

The lack of accountability in the hardcore scene continually pisses me off.

See, the fact that he is still a relatively major presence in that scene is what frustrates me so much about people writing off the JJR/bands that defended him situation. Sure, FYS employs JJR and that's fucking awful. But State Champs and a whole slew of other bands jumped to his defense after he was called out. They have clout within the scene. They are a major influence on their listeners. To write it off as simply "something stupid" is missing the point.

Same goes for TWY. A statement, any statement, regarding the situation in which they spoke out against a person who was publicly part of their crew would have done a great deal of good for the community.

Post the whole thing, Turnover tagged in IG pictures with Harry as well. In addition, Modern Baseball had a pic with him too. Afaik, one of them came out and said he regretted the picture and it was a weird uncomfortable situation. Can't cite either of them, tho.

i'm actually surprised that TIH would even mention it. i definitely do see them on a lot of different flyers for big tours, and it looks like they're doing some pretty big things which is crazy.

some other hardcore band from that same area who's name escapes me has an abuser who's been outed several times by several unrelated people on the internet over many years is also getting pretty hyped. it's that band that played show with old wounds and I think it contributed to OW's last original member leaving.

All this state champs talk and then I see they're opening the date of the fall out boy show I'm attending. Which I probably won't be there for their set anyway. And tbh fall out boy has always been a ? to me cause I've seen so many conflicting things about that old Pete sitch and I'm always like

Ok. I'm just saying I never would have seen that had it not been specifically mentioned in this thread as the new place to look for this info. On the topic of visibility, I am much more likely to skip entire subforums over stickied threads.

Also yes to FOB, I really never know what to do with them. That whole situation is so murky. I really wish there had been more clarification on Brian Diaz's BN post last year, because there were comments there I had never heard before.

That band is/war Tourniquet. Here's a statement from a Facebook post from the Old Wounds dude's girlfriend about it:
