Outside of this website, very few people know or care about it. They’re dropping their morales for money, sadly.

  6. Maybe not really an accountability thing, but with the heightened industry wide focus on crowd safety in the past year or so this really just seems like a bizarre response from the band Trophy Eyes, let alone one to be gloating about

The fuck you is in poor taste but encouraging moshing being considered poor form I really do not get.

Edit: The more I think about it, the more I think it's really shitty to say an opening act shouldn't encourage fan participation... and there are clearly fans there that are into it, so it feels like wagging the finger at them too for being more into an act than the OP is.

Just seeing some of the screenshots relating to that Trophy Eyes post, the person who complained played the "infringing on my rights" card and was boasting about how they'd gladly elbow anyone who started moshing.

I'm kind of torn because on one hand, I don't have anything against moshing and crowd-surfing, but there's definitely people who take it too far and are dickheads who don't consider the safety of other people. On the other hand, the complainant seemed (from the screenshots I've seen before they deleted most of their comments) like they had no idea of what to expect at a rock show and their anger seemed to be coming from a misguided place of entitlement, that they were forced to move from their spot because people around them wanted to mosh.

FWIW I have seen Trohpy Eyes before and John was pretty good about keeping an eye on the crowd and encouraging people to be safe.

we're really at the point where we're crying about moshing, this scene is so dead.

  10. Eh. Not an accountability issue imo, even if the fuck you is in poor taste. On the same token, crowd safety is important and I've gotten in push pits at plenty of shows where the bands do everything to stress that - IDLES comes to mind.

I saw turnstile at a 300 cap show in Tampa when they played with touché. There was the expected amount of activity for the touché set (Jeremy actually stopped the show to address the people stage diving with their feet directed at the crowd), but I was completely unprepared for how nuts it was about to get when turnstile took the stage, having never seen them or heard much about them at the time (I was there for touché, so turnstile turned out to be a surprising and welcome bonus).

To be fair this is what that person originally posted:

They were literally threatening to severely hurt people just for crowd surfing and moshing.

I'd venture to guess 75% of Grayscale fans, if not more, are stoked to see them end up on tour with ATL. As has been said many times, the accountability world that exists on this website does not exist in the actual world.

We (as a society) really really really have to stop seeing people post one off opinions and then assigning that opinion to a huge imaginary group of others who must also have these opinions. This is just one single opinion on the internet that has now been given a megaphone. I'm sure since the very first time people ever moshed, there have also been people who are against it.

  22. The person is being a bit obnoxious for sure and should probably take this as a lesson to do even a small amount of research on the bands they’re going to see if they plan to stand firmly in the pit. Admittedly I did not see some of their other posts, which sure, are not really ok

My issue is that responding to stuff like this with a simple “fuck you” and then running to your fans to show off how you’ve just put this girl in her place or whatever (also inviting thousands of them to dogpile) sets a really terrible precedent not only for how people should be responding to concert safety concerns, but how artists should be using their platforms in general. It’s irresponsible and the way hardcore bros in their comments are eating it up is pretty telling of the message they’ve sent. That’s all I’ll say on it

They are getting rationed hard already, so it’s nice that at least a decent amount of people still care about the allegations.

I’m reading that Grayscale were set to tour with the band The Wrecks at some point but dropped the tour after their incident (I believe they were saying racist stuff on stage) so for them to drop off touring with one problematic band only to eventually book a tour with another problematic band…not sure the thought process there at all, other than as mentioned above that money talks.
