My girlfriend's teenage niece is begging her to take her to see Melanie Martinez this summer and she's weary because of the allegations. I'm aware of the allegation from 2017, and have searched through posts about her in this thread, but I've also run into some discussion indicting she may or may not have been proven innocent. Does anyone know if that's actually the case? I want to make sure she has the full picture before she agrees to anything, or, conversely, shoots her down and has an uncomfortable conversation.

It'll always gross me how hard a worrying amount of her fanbase still goes about lying wrt the original allegation, to the point of fabricating evidence, making long in depth biased videos defending Melanie while continuing to harass the accuser and her family... when Melanie basically admitted to the sexual assault in her original statement.
