i don't think every band managed by a shitty person is under obligation to make a statement about a matter not directly having to do with them.

 

He seems to have actually taken it on board too which is great. He's around lots of older guys in his line of work and I think their jokes kind of seeped in to him. It's progress.

 

Straight up, what are you trying to accomplish by asking this in this way?

 

Tbh I haven’t returned to the Rosenstock record at all and I think it has to do with the Cheap Girls situation

 

with regards to evan, it seems when he's brought up in this context, there's a sense of "oh is it alright to listen to him?" like people are trying to get a sense of whether other people think it's okay or not. I wasn't trying to accomplish anything, but reading back, I can see if my post came off as confrontational. My bad.

 

I mean it's no different than anything else. People can listen to whoever they want. As far as supporting him, based on what he said to that victim, nah I don't think that's cool.

 

This may be unrelated, but was there a thread on AP or here about Cheap Girls being creeps years before it came out? I swear I remember something really long and detailed involving another band, but I couldn’t find it for a friend when the news dropped.

 

Yeah probably 2-3 years ago, about a year before the allegations were made public

Yeah, I saw that. I just have a bad taste in my mouth from the way it was handled. Not that I'm actively trying to not listen to him, just that that made me lose a whole lot of interest.

This is pretty random, but does anyone else find it problematic that when NFG kicked out Steve they didn't even acknowledge what he did? All they did was say "personal reasons" and then plugged their next tour.

Bullshit? Come on. I cleaned up all the forum policies and sticky threads to make them better and easier to understand. And wrote about why in the announcement forum like I always do.

 

this thread gets used every day, and new cases of misconduct are emerging all the time so i doubt its gonna fade away.

I don't think it's really about ease of access, it's more about the statement that it sends. I'm not worried about it ever falling off the first page of threads either, obviously. But by being a pinned thread, it was given the place of importance it deserves because it is an important thread. At least as important as (if not more so) than things like self-promotion or general recommendations. Idk.

 

Pinned threads aren't about importance or sending statements.
