^ yea I can't name a single song of theirs and still I've always known how much of a POS this dude is. I'm pretty confident in assuming most of his fans are longtime fans and know this too and don't care. I saw a twitter thread where some of them were calling anyone who thinks his behavior abhorrent a "sensitive snowflake". he's a terrible person and so are his fans idfc

Tbh I do think he's charming and charismatic when he wants to be so I see why he has super dedicated fans. But like charming and charismatic in the way that many not great people are. I encounter a lot of similar personalities in my line of work where they're always the wronged or the misunderstood and are really good at convincing some people of that, even professionals who should be trained in those behaviors and know, let alone a fan base where it can already be parasocial in nature. Not to absolve people who defend the behavior. His tiktoks used to come across my algorithm a lot and he sometimes did say things that were funny or not totally off base and I think that makes it easier for people to hand wave off other things that they definitely shouldn't. Especially when we want to like something and not feel guilty about it. But like yeah we shouldn't do that.

What series of unfortunate events leads grown adults to stick up for Ronald Radke online?

yeah there's no way they didn't know about ronald radke lol, they just knew it's a good pay day and a good exposure to the radio rock crowd to tour with him.
can we not do psycho shit like this in here?

Yeah, I can't buy that people who have been in/around the larger scene for years could be ignorant about Radke. My litmus test for these things is usually in conversations with friends who like similar artists/bands but don't spend time browsing forums/Twitter, etc. If I tell them something about a band or artist doing something shitty, I'm typically breaking news. I've never needed to tell anyone about Ronnie. People know.

And even if there are bands are who are happy to tow the line of "well, all that stuff was years ago, we have to give people second chances, etc.", it's pretty hard to say that with a straight face when one quick look at his daily Twitter activity can give you a plethora of reasons that you shouldn't support him. Even if you can, for whatever reason, look past his past, he's got plenty of current drivel to reaffirm any negative connotation about him.

I think Spiritbox's presence in heavy music is important and I am glad they are getting recognition in a genre often dominated by men and I want to support/be a champion of them but when they decide to tour with a shitty person instead of...anyone else it makes it way more difficult to feel comfortable supporting them, even after they dropped off. That's why I personally find it really important to support acts who make a concerted effort to tour with people who are not abusers or overall shitty people (which I think we all thought Spiritbox was one of those acts), and why that trust in Spiritbox has probably gone down for a lot of people.

Also not related to this tour, and I know it's been talked about in the past here, but it's still insane that Falling In Reverse/Ronnie were on Warped Tour up until the very end (of the cross country version). Like...his shit was very well known then in the scene and the fact that it was just...dismissed by Kevin Lyman and the other people involved in Warped sure was something.

Once a band becomes as big as Spiritbox, every decision is a business/profit one first and foremost. The allure of touring with an artist as successful as Falling in Reverse is huge when you consider how economically beneficial it could be to Spiritbox.

They have more listeners on Spotify right now than Dance Gavin Dance, who brought back Tillian because it was the more profitable option compared to booting him. Big bands make money moves.
