True, it is quite a tangent and likely better suited for the accountability thread. But I do feel like most of the discussion has mentioned it’s more the consumers relationship with true crime that can be problematic than the medium itself.

Hard disagree. Having a liking for true crime, or anything informational is not problematic. Even if it’s a dramatized medium version, it’s informational. Society has always had an interest in the macabre, this is base instinct.

The fact of the matter is, most people who are enjoying true crime are enjoying it for the informational aspect of it, as well as the tension and intrigue. Assuming, or looking at it as, problematic, again boils it down to a very one minded outside looking in aspect and a matter of fact ignores that it what true crime ultimately is; historical events. If it’s not your thing, that’s fine.

agree to disagree. you can like what you like but people can still think it's problematic

Was not saying people can’t like true crime. I like true crime from time to time. Was trying to say that maybe (like many other interests) SOME people take it too far and start consuming true crime more like they would horror movies rather than learning the lessons that most of the creators are trying to get across. I was not trying to shame you for liking true crime as long as you don’t have a fucking serial killer as your screensaver. Sorry you feel targeted

Y’all really have to start putting names in these posts instead of just drive-bying with no context.

Unless you open the link and watch the video on twitter, you can't see the name of the artist. I think that's what the user was alluding to.

    Here’s his wiki https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_Me_Karizma

Concerning it doesn’t mention his allegations at all, and I didn’t know that he’s signed to label founded by the same guy who started Fearless Records. Weird.

Yes AND when these tweets inevitably get deleted because the original account gets heat and is bullied into deleting it, there’s no record of anything.

Just because we can’t stop it and the shows will “do good” doesn’t mean we shouldn’t bring up Skiba’s problematic behavior/associations, but I feel like any response to the above post will just fall on deaf ears so…

Not sure where else to put this but some good news to share - got an email today from Bandcamp that next Friday they are donating 100% of their share of sales to the NAACP. I know Bandcamp has done other cool things in the past specific to artists so cool to see this as well.
