Brand New reuniting would make a lot of people a lot of money, so it’s always going to be something that gets pushed for. It’ll happen eventually.

I don't have anything to add about Jesse's relationship with Andy/Kevin because Sean's comment perfectly explained my thoughts but I do want to say regarding the whole Bamboozle thing:

Maybe they will reunite someday, maybe they won't, but I find it extremely frustrating how music festivals, especially ones in the pop punk scene will prioritize money and success over the wishes of survivors (this is about Bamboozle and Brand New but applies to Warped Tour as well).

I am fully aware that they are/were a very popular band in the scene and carry a lot of nostalgia for pop punk fans with them, and that also comes with a lot of money to be made for a festival (ticket sales), but there are so many other artists you can book that are...not abusers, and it's so much easier to seek out such artists thanks to the internet and streaming platforms. It would be nice to reach a point in the pop punk scene where bands/musicians in pop punk (non-male bands, POC groups, etc.) are given opportunities before a room full of festival organizers decides to try and book an abusers band year after year.

i still see brand new shirts on people at every show i go to. i still see people wear them on their sleeves when they talk about "elder emo" shit and emo nostalgia. so yeah, 1000% guarantee they'll be bigger than ever when they come back.

People are still playing them on college radio stations (which threw me for a loop back in the fall when I heard songs from TDAGARIM played on UVA's student radio station). People are still actively listening because they either don't care about what JL did because ~nostalgia~ or because they still don't know, or are using the "separate the art from artist" argument*. We're also approaching a point where it's so far in the past that people also could've forgotten what happened, and they feel like it's "safe" to start talking about again, or actively listening to again.

At this point, even talking about them for pages in this thread ages me about 500 years, because it's basically a dead horse that everyone keeps beating on.

*side note: a lot of people who use that argument also use it for other artists who've done shitty things and it makes me want to scream. see: chris brown, kanye, every other artist that people seem to constantly talk about in here.

Right and this sentiment is also why they keep saying "it's not the right time yet". They need to wait until it's been so memory-holed that they feel comfortable coming back.

  7. Yep, and the passage of time def also expands the group of people who think second chances are in order :(

People do make mistakes, and second chances are definitely a thing for people who actually do the work to earn them in many cases, but messing with kids is a hard line that there's no coming back from. I truly don't care what you do. No second chances for that shit.

Not trying to be glib, but how much weight does the Bamboozle booker have? Hasn’t that been done since 2012?

  11. people make mistakes! most people don't solicit a minor for nudes!

  12. Hard to say, but the return of the festival was kind of a big deal announcement.

Quite a lot - when Skate & Surf died in the early 00s it became Bamboozle. The Bamboozle name was bought by LiveNation for the 2012 festival, so John left and relaunched Skate & Surf in 2013, which continued for another few years. John D is a big deal promoter in Jersey and has the sway to get a lot of bands to play reunions at his festivals, which have in the past included Midtown, Something Corporate, Small Brown Bike, and of course Fall Out Boy. John is also, notably, a piece of shit

I’m so lost, what is the issue with the venue or owner? I just see a tweet saying they’re not playing there but nothing says why or whatever the fuck that first tweet was talking about
