    Yeah
"I've never really been interested in politics,” she tells me on Zoom. “It just seems like a boring issue. My brain just doesn't attach to that. I'm more of, I don't know, a doodling kind of person. I like to doodle and dance and just get through my day. " Of President Biden's performance during his first year in office, she feigns ignorance: “I don't know. I know that he has a face and legs and arms and things like that, and he walks around with them."

I mean, she has three monster hits on the radio, all either produced by Dr. Luke or co-written by him. The rest of the songs on the album don't. It's easy to see that, at the very least, her team favors him.

Is that really problematic? It's not like she voiced support for shitty politics, just not interested in them in general

Eh, I tend to think that refusing to take a position is in itself taking a position. If you can look at the world in the state its in, from a place of influence, and say "that doesn't concern me", it speaks to your priorities.

Not taking a position doesn’t always mean they’re not concerned (although in this situation it may). A lot of people who do not keep up with politics feel overwhelmed, overpowered, and hopeless. Keeping up with politics does nothing but put them in distress and they don’t feel like they can change anything. They instead focus on things they believe they have more influence over and can actually not stress about.

OK, but is that genuinely your takeaway from the quote that @iCarly Rae Jepsen posted?

No and I thought every sentence after the first sentence in my comment was clearly not about that, but about a good portion of people who do not keep up with politics.

I was referring to her casual use of gay slurs in the past. Mighty rich coming from a pop star who needs a gay audience more than they need her.

  11. idk, i know plenty of people (myself included) who do not "follow politics". i don't read political journals or news, i don't watch the news on TV unless there is something significant happening, i don't follow any political pundits on twitter or socials, i dont even dip into the politics forums here unless its election night. i just plainly have never been interested in politics or political science, but, i fucking care a whole lot about the garbage going on in our society right now that people tend to all too frequently conflate with 'politics'. its an easy cop out when asked about your opinion on something today to just say "oh you know i just dont care for politics".

I haven't really been following along to this conversation, but I guess I'd rather have someone say they aren't interested in politics or don't care for politics than saying something way more ignorant or ill-informed to their millions of followers.

Sure, it's an easy cop out, but could be less harmful in the end if they really are misinformed/not informed at all and say something way more damaging or false.

Like, 60% of the country is ill informed, but it doesn't stop them from spewing their diatribe.

  13. Yeah, this is not in explicit reference to Doja Cat due to her bizarre background with 4chan or whatever but as a celebrity, I'd reckon sometimes it's much easier to not chime in on everything 24/7 as expected. Like, I'd like to think in that position, I could use my platform to promote worthy causes, but if someone asked me about Joe Biden or the Democrats and I went on a tangent about them sucking shit, how easy would it be for half of the public to assume I'm a right winger?

Totally forgot about all of that weird shit with her, that definitely changes how I perceive that quote specifically from her.

I still don't necessarily agree with the notion that some people have that every single celebrity has to be political (not saying anyone here is saying that but there's definitely a certain sect of Twitter that wants artists to voice their opinions on every single issue). Do we really need to hear what every single musician or actor thinks all the time?

not saying she shouldn’t be held accountable for questionable stuff she’s said or done but it seems weird to nitpick a woman of color’s thoughts on politics that almost every celebrity and well off middle/upper class family in America basically has as well.

Yeah I mean most of the time when people say why aren’t more celebrities speaking up about x, y, or z, my stance is they should probably just be quiet because they’re not gonna say what you want them to say and you’re just gonna get outraged and no one gains anything

According to my friend who lives in CT and is part of the scene, there are multiple allegations against the singer of foxtails. I’m unsure if either of them are the same one referenced here, but multiple people have come forward to my friend.

The survivors went directly to Touché’s tour management and that’s how they became aware and Foxtails was dropped

I remember when it was first a news piece, but looking into the details now, it looks like he spanked his child. Spanking isn't something I condone personally, but it definitely seems as terrible as the headlines made it sound.
