It’s been said many times in here that basically unless you’re an active member on this forum, more specifically in this thread, that you’d really have no way of knowing that the accuser remains unhappy with the way Evan & Pinegrove handled things and moved on

 

except phoebe has been told numerous times. even if it’s only fans telling her, she still has to have seen it at least once

 

Knowing and continuing to support him really isn't the one.

 

I didn't mean to make this convo come up again, haha. The only reason I found out those dorks have new music is because she posted about it, so I figured I'd post that in here.

Has she been told information that is pretty much only known on here? Because unless someone has linked her the Pinegrove thread on here and she’s read it I see it as she only knows the status of the situation from the Pitchfork piece and maybe the New Yorker piece.

Assuming she knows and is willfully ignoring the situation beyond what is in the articles is a bit weird to be because that same energy isn’t put towards other artists posting about them. This reminds me of the Sun Kil Moon situation where after it came out people were claiming she must have known even though there was no evidence to support that. I feel like it’s just assumptions without any legit proof.

If you would like to link to other artists promoting Pinegrove, I will be happy to say "That stinks" about them as well, lol. I don't think anyone is targeted just Phoebe. I explained why I used her name in my original post.

This conversation has been had pretty much ad nauseam on this forum. Pinegrove lead singer makes a statement suggesting sexual coercion and abuse of power, claims to seek therapy and mediation, cancels album release and tour, revealed that the "therapist" involved in bringing forward accusations wasn't actually licensed and wanted some street cred, weird tone-deaf Pitchfork puff piece comes out, a couple of industry people make subtweets about the situation (Adult Mom and Long Neck), other industry people continue to support the lead singer (Phoebe and others), poster on chorus forum claims to know the victim and says they are not fully happy with the situation but also didn't want the situation going big and public, Pinegrove makes return, various artists that chorus loves support Pinegrove in their return, various users unhappy with them supporting based on information they gained from chorus user. Repeat angry discussion every few months when Pinegrove releases music or tours. Always seems pretty counterproductive. I think it's pretty hard to claim any universal truth on whether the situation has been handled properly or not and is probably left up to better-informed people than us. This just circles the drain every few months. Probably best to just ignore as they had their 5 minutes of fame and haven't seemed to do much since then.

 

I will say, though, that we should walk back the narrative about the PG stuff being only small details from our forum. Long Neck and Adult Mom both had tweets around the time of the comeback saying how it sucked and how they didn't want them coming back. AM has 24k followers

 

I just want to say re: “they had their 5 minutes of fame” is incorrect as they still are releasing popular albums and playing large venues and…haven’t really fallen off since the situation came out. In fact I’d say they maybe even got bigger since they came back.

 

Didn't realize they were still popular. Last I heard they played some tiny venue and released an album to not much buzz.

 

Yeah they sold out a decent sized venue here recently. They’re still very much popular unfortunately.

 

Would a Google doc that links to the tweets and forum specific posts about the situation be beneficial? I feel like that would be more helpful than seeing someone post about them and being annoyed when maybe they just aren’t educated enough on the situation. Especially for artists and people who are less in tune with the people who spoke out at the time.

I'm gonna ignore your whole post as you're the resident Pinegrove Devil's Advocate, but thank you. There's nothing "counterproductive" about having this conversation whenever they rear their ugly heads

This site is the only site I’ve been on where people are actually in the know about what happened. Reddit don’t have a clue or anyone on Twitter. I also think that people just don’t really understand what happened at all.

 

And that's very much by design, at least on Pinegrove's part. Making sure the real story never gets out is to key to them continuing to enjoy the success they've enjoyed. Agreeing to do the Pitchfork PR piece was part of that effort. Abusers like ESH are great at manipulating their story and making sure that the people around them believe and hear what they want them to hear.
