All of the comments mentioned are such typical teenage thought processes. That doesn’t give it a pass, just makes it so sad that there isn’t anyone in her life that’s educating her more seriously
And now that she’s a legal adult and the biggest star on the planet I feel like that kind of growth could be stunted which is too bad.

i agree. It’s the same sort of thought process I would’ve had at her age, I’m sure. It’s just immature thinking without being very critical. I also hope she gets challenged and tries to grow a little.

Like I genuinely wish she could be sat down by someone in the music industry she respects (preferably black) and challenged about this perception and also taught more about the context of genres (ie ‘posturing’/braggadocio being a historical part of hip hop etc)

 

Definitely would be good for her to have a conversation like that! Now you make me wish we had cross genre interviews all the time.

Yeah it's probably not the best thing to say, but she's only 18 years old. I cringe at some of the shitty opinions I had about the music industry when I was that age.

 

I do remember her dedicating a performance of I Love You to XXX after he passed away. I was definitely a bit disappointed.

 

Her and X were friends before he died iirc, I don't see her ever stopping saying positive things about him tbh
