Yeah... bizarre

 

I'm conflicted. Based on the other supposed sexual assault allegation I'm inclined to believe something DID happen and she's being forced to lie, but also I also believe women, which means I believe her word that nothing happened. It's just difficult to tell, but Hobo Johnson responding definitely is a bit suspicious. If she's tweeting that nothing happened and it was a misunderstanding, why respond to the tweet and give the situation more "spotlight"? I'm trying to grapple with my thoughts on this so I'm kind of all over the place.

Yeah, when that Hobo tweet was posted earlier, that VenusRoseBaby account was going at Hobo pretty hard in multiple replies pretty much saying he ruined her life and she went to authorities and all sorts of other things.

If the story I've heard about him this week is true, Hobo Johnson is by definition a rapist and no amount of threatening the victim through legal means will make that go away. A similar situation happened with Rob Damiani of Don Broco and those allegations haven't gone away because the victim was threatened into silence.

 

Wasn’t there a story in here about HJ like not being allowed to perform in his hometown because of an assault he committed? Is this the only survivor who has come forward in any way about him?

 

There was. I'm unsure if that is the same as this account. This entire thing is so weird. Not that I listened to him before, but this is enough to turn me off completely. Very shady

 

The language surrounding this entire thing is so fucking skeevy and weird to me if these allegations are indeed false, though. Ending the initial tweet with "cancel him". Having the purported survivor saying "I'm shutting down the cancellation of Hobo Johnson". Like, what the fuck are people doing?

See on the one hand what appears to have happened is that she contracted the STI from someone else and mistakenly believed it was HJ, who doesn’t even have it himself. But on the other hand, the circumstances surrounding this retraction of the allegation are suspect to some degree considering the timing and HJ’s entirely self-serving attitude about the whole thing.

Idk I mean for now we kind of have to take her word that it didn’t happen the way she initially thought it did. But at the same time, he still is sketchy af, has other allegations against him, and also now apparently has a history of racist behavior according to one of the screenshots in that tweet. So it’s not like this completely wipes his slate clean or anything.

 

Oh no absolutely not, he's still a slimeball and his lyrics are incredibly problematic. The events surrounding this/the retraction/how explicit she is with the retraction to say that everything was consensual and that what she told to the OP was misunderstood...idk. It's all not a good look.

 

Yeah it’s really weird, nothing about this feels right to me. Especially considering how swiftly HJ’s profile has been inexplicably rising over the last year (the dude somehow performed on goddamn Seth Meyers’ show), he has a major incentive to try and cover this up.
