This screenshotted post is what I remember, but then I also remember something about it being fabricated or misrepresented because the IAU guy hated ADTR or something like that (if memory serves, I think she gave Josh's nudes to IAU to leak)? I don't really remember much more.

The fact that it came from IAU is what makes me just want to take a nap. I dislike how that link implies the allegation isn't true simply because the guys tweeted it wasn't, but the source in this case matters.

 

wasn't there also a Jesse Lacey post on IAU too? i remember seeing something about skyping/webcam stuff.

 

I remember searching to see if I could find any record of an assault claim filed, but I couldn't find anything at the time.

This is what I remember coming out at some point as IAU completely making up to try and fuck over the band. Everything is really fuzzy now 8 years later and I feel old.

 

This story about ADTR dates back to when I first started going to shows, and I tried to follow stories like this very closely. I have a lot of PDF'd screenshots in an archive I'll search later to see what I can get. But I do have this to add for now.

If you do a Google search for "morgan payne" "a day to remember" (quotes included) or similarly "morgan payne" "josh woodard" you'll see a lot of Tumblr posts still up from people commenting on the story, some believing the story pretty much as posted above, some doubting it. Many of those Tumblr pages appear to me to be authentic, at least many show activity as recent as a year or two ago, which a fake profile created to trash someone or other might not bother to do beyond getting out posts on an intended target. I remember so much being talked about related to this ADTR related story that I'd say something probably did happen in real life, and it sounds like a typical episode in the scene that everyone knows about but no one in authority wants to do anything about, though I still don't know enough to say I'm certain the IAU post screenshot from Facebook was authentic.

This was a time when there was so little interest in any kind of established music press covering harassment in the music scene that sites like IAU and especially "The Dirty" were actually used by a lot of people trying to call out harassment -- not just calling for harassment of women but trying to use the sites to report guys who were harassing women or acting in a sexually predatory manner.

I think it says a lot about how the scene handled (and still handles) these issues that what we have today isn't a whole lot better. Similar to the movie industry post-Weinstein and #metoo, labels and promoters are a lot more sensitive about how they look in social media, but little else off stage and out of the social media spotlight has changed. This story is an example -- nearly ten years on and we're still analyzing screenshots from Is Anything Up as a (possibly) authoritative source of information on this story.

 

There were also MySpace screenshots or copy pastes from ADTR guy apologizing for what happened. I vaguely remember it, but I think someone had sent them to my AP account years back.

 

Didn't IAU or hunter Moore get banned from a festival because he was gonna "fight" ADTR or something?

I can't help but feel like shit like IAU laid the groundwork for alt right internet provocateurs.

I can’t speak to the authenticity of the allegations, but I will say that I used to be good friends with Josh Woodard, and he is a shit human being in every sense of the word. I have no trouble believing that email detailing her Warped experience was accurate.

I’ve since completely stopped listening to ADTR, a band I used to very much adore, after my personal experiences with Josh.

 

What losers. Imagine caping for literal trash. Only good thing about this is that it reminds me that xxx is no longer alive to harm anyone else. Imagine wanting to contribute positively in any way to a person like that. Can't relate! Sad that blink 182 can!
