this is why brand news music will never, ever be the same to me. like, there’s no way I can ever listen to them again without thinking about what happened because the songs are nearly all tied to it in my eyes, the subject matter is just impossible to get past

Was there something swirling around about Wil a while ago or am I misremembering? I think they took a break at some point but I’m blanking on why. I can’t figure out if this isn’t surprising because nothing like this surprises me now or if this isn’t the first time it’s been mentioned.

 

If it's what I'm remembering, someone had mentioned Georgia really didn't like the band but I don't think we ever knew why

 

Second band that Jeff Rosenstock has worked with closely being outed as pieces of shit. I hope he says something this time

 

I get that Jeff saying something would be really positive for the scene but I think that’s a lot of pressure to put on him. As long as he doesn’t talk about the band or work with them in the future I think that’s enough.

Feels like Camp Cope have been screaming into a void for years about abusers and very few ever listen/they get so much abuse that they can't even create a band twitter because they get so much harassment.

 

fuck. i feel like i am part of those that ignored Camp Cope, at least what i saw late last year on twitter when Wil had his onstage breakdown of sorts. i don’t recall the exact wording of it, but i maybe let my bias take it as he was a bad partner but not necessarily a bad person, which was an easier pill to swallow given he seemed pretty aware himself that he had fucked a lot up in that department. hope it doesn’t get swept under the rug again by a bunch of people like me, but that insta post leaves zero room for confusion. another band rightfully bites the dust. hope everyone affected and abused gets heard.

Nick (capsize guitarist) posted the same statement on his personal twitter, which then reads like he is the one leaving. I have definitely heard/seen allegations concerning their vocalist Daniel though.

 

Wow that’s...maybe the best statement in response to assault allegations I’ve seen? Kind of surprised to see someone actually own their shit and understand that they have lost their platform privileges for once.

 

It's a good statement but the band are being problematic and trying to use his statement and kicking him out to obfuscate the allegations around the rest of the members, like they don't even name who he is directly in their statement? It makes me very uncomfortable.

 

Honestly, I know nothing about this band or its members, don't even know what their music sounds like, just going off of what I was reading there. I have no clue about allegations against other members.

 

Not trying to call you out or anything, just providing some context for the situation.

 

Capsize look like they're in that awkward phase where shit is about to just unravel for them and they'll break up, a la moose blood. I had heard they were sketchy dudes back when they were locals from someone from their area. I think the singer who it seems a lot of the complaints are about is doing video production for some fairly notable bands.
