This isn't showing up for me yet, must be a slow rollout. I was so ready for J*nk to fuck off from every damn playlist Spotify makes me too, but now that I recently searched for them it'll just make the problem worse

They come up on basically every emo/pop punk/indie playlist or shuffle I'm ever on.

was having a problem with Brand New, Pinegrove, and R Kelly showing up in my daily mixes. Doesn't happen much anymore, but this is a cool feature

A little off topic, but I do wonder if this will effect the charts that much. Certain songs by shitty people may feature on playlist that people have on in the background and may not have skipped before. Probably wont make that much of a difference, but may make a little.

How the fuck is Chris brown still a thing and how the fuck do A listers risk still risk it by associating with him

The worst part is that Chris Brown will continue to abuse, rape, BITE women because nothing this scumbag can do will ever "cancel" him.

Because it’s not a risk. Chris Brown has a massive fan base that consists mostly of women. Truth is it’s not a bad look for people to work with him to a majority of the music world.

At least we can mute him on Spotify now.

Saying that, i'm still not comfortable listening to people who have worked with artists like him, the dead prick and the rainbow haired paedophile.

I’ll never understand why people want to defend millionaire rapists

I’m not going to act like I dont 100% understand why he thinks this way.
I can completely understand why someone would look at the situation and think- this man has women throwing sex at him- he doesn’t need to take it.
Because he’s flat out ignorant and wrong about the reasoning behind rape. We all know that rape is a power move but to people who have never been taught that, they see it as a sex move.

To be clear I’m not defending him, at all, (I don’t even know who that is) this just seems clearly to me like a situation of someone not having the information and knowledge on assault and ignorantly defending someone based on that.

I genuinely wish this could be a teaching moment for them and someone could educate them and explain to them why they’re wrong but I also don’t know how much they’re willing to listen because at the end of the day they are a man in power and we all know how good they are at listening...

Also like the false persecution of black men has been prevelant for SO fucking long, the defensive mindset is still up to protect their own. It’s why OJ was supported, why R Kelly still has a career, why it took decades and dozens of women to take down bill cosby.
This attitude is extremely pervasive in the black community. And I can fully understand why. But, like the conversation that has sparked with r kelly, it’s time to focus on why that attitude is at the expense of (typically) black women.

Risk was a poor choice of words, he's clearly not risky at all- i mean he put a song about lil dicky wanting to be black and say the n word or some shit at #1 on the charts in multiple countries, which should tell you all you need to know about chris brown's perception in 2019. What I meant was more like... if someone like drake needs to collab with someone with a ton of clout, good singer/dancer or whatever chris brown offers, there's a ton of other A-listers who could fill that role. and that's not to mention the coward as fuck move of collabing with someone who nearly beat a woman you wrote *several hits about* nearly to death. but to me it's like artists who were collabing with r kelly in like 2010-2015 where it's like "are you willing to risk it all, knowing that one day people are gonna take a stand and you're gonna (sorta) go down with him.

as I type this i realize how none of this matters and artists are only concerned with the clout of whoever they collaborate with. I guess with how meticulous drake is with his image this seems like an unnecessary collaboration when you can easily find someone else to work with.

also isn't joyner lucas that guy who made the song about being racist against white people or some shit? he seems like a big yikes in general

You’re right tons of people can do what Chris brown does, but people still go to Chris brown, because not only does he do numbers BUT people who collaborate with him, if I had to guess, think he’s a good guy or whatever and should be forgiven. Definitely a big problem

And people use the “Rihanna forgave him so it’s okay” excuse all the time, but I don’t know about you but personally I find it incredibly hard to believe there wasn’t pressure on her from industry executives to forgive him and let him continue to have a career. No way of knowing for sure but given what we’ve found out about the movie industry in the last few years and how the culture was back when it happened, I’d put good money on it.

My students all use whatever dumb documentary he put out as proof that he's changed and keeps to himself and has a family or whatever. Shit's dumb, nobody cares until it's a meme to care. Gotta surprise release a doc about him on Netflix so people can binge watch it

even if she didn't, it's clear that she was in love with him and would not be the first person to forgive the unforgiveable because of how you feel about the person. so you're basically left with having to come to your own conclusions, which unless you know the guy personally and some information no one else is privy to, should be that he's a massive POS.

is chris brown supposed to be a nice guy? i thought he was supposed to have that bad boy edge or some shit

I mean his public image is that yeah but I just don’t think people would be so ready to collaborate with him over and over if they didn’t like the guy

  20. I mean, even without the circumstances-unknown public forgiveness; if she HADN'T done that the same folks who use it to excuse him would've just said she was bitter and needed to get over it or revisit the declaration that the abuse never happened or got blown out of proportion, so...

What was it she tweeted that one time?

"Never underestimate a man's ability to make you feel guilty for his mistakes."

Same applies to society in cases like this. Black women are the last people anyone ever wants to give a crap about. Only chance any of these men would've been held accountable faster is if their victims were predominantly white, although as we see with Cosby even that isn't a given, and probably would've boiled down to racist respectability politics. It's a whole damn mess.

can't help but draw comparisons from how chris brown was circa 2010, and xxxtentacion was over the last few years. like his stans looooove to talk about how he turned the corner because he did a (turned out to be fake) charity event, and would post his crybaby bullshit online so he's gotta be this sensitive lil soul that was too pure for this world or some shit. and also, it's very Good to ignore his witness tampering charge when saying "yes but the woman actually posted on instagram that she made it up so case closed".

like, i get that chris brown stans in 2010 and x stans now are all 16-20 years old and thus largely dumb kids but it's pretty frustrating to see the ease that people are willing to put blinders on to stan someone who wouldn't give them a half second of their time if they ever met.

I'm trying to think Frank Ocean is the only one in the industry to be really be critical of Chris Brown, well more trolling him by saying he reminds him of Sisqo meets Ike Turner and entrapping him in a parking spot
