Why are they so devoid of any shame? Jesse did not apologize nor deny the grooming of minors. He did not tell his fans to stop harassing his accusers. No restitution has been made to the victims.

They say he's changed, but he still hasn't done anything. Going to therapy or rehab is great but that doesn't help the victims.

Why give money to someone like that?

While it’s disappointing to hear the Underoath dudes chat about it with any positive spin, and Aaron Weiss being at the Philly show, I can’t write off every person who partakes in something problematic or adjacent to it (I know what I’m trying to say, but just not finding the right words).

Not really sure where I draw the line, and the line isn’t consistent anyway. I’d be more disappointed if someone said they like J.K. Rowling than if they say they listen to Brand New, but that’s just the subjectivity of the whole thing.

 

I think it's equally upsetting. I mean, uncertain how you can draw the line at a TERF but not at a pedophile, but that's me.

I would say that there is a distinction between JL and JKR. As far as we know, JL is not using money he is getting from the tour to support getting laws changed to allow pedophilia. He is still trash and people shouldn’t financially support him. JKR boasts about using HP money to attack trans people and actively aided getting the law changed.

Both are monsters, but I don’t see any issue with putting JKR a little higher on the global shit list.

Absolutely knew that what I said would be misconstrued. I’ve tried really hard to step back into this conversation and discussion after getting A LOT wrong on a A LOT of shit.

I’m still learning. Learning how to support survivors and be a better ally to many marginalized people groups that I’ve harmed by association and active participation with conservative religious circles.

At the end of the day, most of the time I post something in here, I decide later that I should just shut the fuck up and keep listening and learning. I’m not a victim, I just want to do better for them. Almost always regret my participation, and that’s on me in these internet spaces.
