    One moment, please...

Newsboys owner and family sued for defamation, conspiracy, and infliction of emotional distress in $5.4 million lawsuit.

Yeah, owner of Newsboys. He’s complicit in the recently revealed sexual assault of a crew member in connection with all the Michael Tait allegations.

The whole "owner of a band" thing wrinkled my brain until I thought about how much of a product modern Newsboys has become. There's no art there, just a product to march out and get paid.

Diddy jury has reached a partial verdict. They're still hung on the RICO charge. Unclear if we will get a full verdict announcement today

    2001-2022 Prestigious

Tim and Aaron from Underoath were on a podcast with Neil Rubenstein and Brand New came up. Neil said he disliked Jesse from other issues before he was cancelled (and did an episode about that they will release at some point?). Anyway Gillespie said something about how they have a mutual friend who mentioned that the plan was for Jesse to put out a solo record first, to take the heat and then BN releases a full length after...he said it was hearsay but who knows.

Anyway they had a discussion about still supporting cancelled artists (Neil pointed out UO have toured with cancelled artists) , so interesting to see band members working through this stuff too. Video with the time stamp for the discussion:

That is horrifyingly gross that they would not only be aware enough of their situation to know they'll get backlash and think they can account for that by putting out a solo release to take the brunt... like disgustingly calculated but also extremely narcissistic. Maybe just don't fucking do anything, you scumbags.

  9. I do not know who Neil Rubenstein is

  10. Also it finally happened, someone I know (not as well as I used to) and respected went to see Brand New in Philly. Shit sucks!

  11. Comedian who was very involved in the Long Island emo/punk scene in the early BN/TBS/etc days. Even wrote some lyrics for one of those bands, if I remember right from the interviews in Where Are Your Boys Tonight?

Same in Chicago. A singer for a band I auditioned for last year. Maybe I dodged a bullet.

Oh, transportation of prostitution were the two counts he's found guilty of.

  17. Looks like max of 20 years in prison. Could have been life if he was found guilty on the other sex charges.

hope those jurors sleep well after that slap on the wrist

I wasn't expecting him to be found guilty on the RICO charge, but pretty shocked that he was found not guilty on both trafficking counts.
They set a sentencing date yet?

Prosecutors really fucked this case up, huh

  22. Ehhhh...this was unpleasant to listen to. Tim saying grooming is bad because he has daughters, saying "he messed up 15 years ago," one of the hosts really emphasizing that Jesse's wife forgave him, Tim saying he "loves Brand New and would go see them." Not great!

thanks for saving me a listen, that's fucking disappointing.

  24. Yeah, not throwing @neo506 under the bus because I agree that it could be interesting to hear other artists work through these conversations, but in this case, it kinda just sounded like really dumb guys talking about something they probably shouldn't have talked about on a podcast lol.

Underoath has been on like 7000 podcast lately so they were bound to stay something stupid. More artists need to take notes from like frank ocean and bring back mystery. Not saying Frank has any bad takes, but I wouldn’t know because he never talks in the public eye
