First it's sad to actively keep track of the band, but then it's sad if you aren't actively tracking down videos of them to make sure you aren't gaslighting yourself from something you heard through word of mouth because you choose not to actively keep track of the band. My head hurts.

Casually browsing the Brand New subreddit and seeing a lot of posts commenting on lack of crowd etiquette and how the crowd should “do better”.

Why don’t you do some self reflection and do better by not supporting this fucking creep. These fans heads are so far up their asses I can’t believe they manage to breathe.

Celebrating the cheap Brand New tickets thing is odd to me since all it means is scalpers bought up the tickets, lost their ass on them thinking they'd have a huge demand and could resell for profit, and now casual fans who have not kept up with the news over the years see $10 tickets for one of their high school favorites snatch them up. Seattle was not an empty venue based on what I've seen. The band/label still got the money and Brand New is going to walk away from the tour having proved that, despite everything, they can have a full US run with no openers and still sell well in the biggest venues they ever played.

 

It isn't just the scalpers selling them for only $10 though, right? The venues themselves have had to lower prices

Correct, some of those Groupon-priced tickets are official 'gotta dump them' seats, and I'd doubt any promoter is giving them this kind of guarantee again.

casual fan was waiting to see how low prices might go. had a target of $50. to their surprise, tickets are $5, now they support the band directly and buy a shirt? in addition to maybe the scalper already buying the door fee? so it’s an additional t shirt sale to the band that might not have occurred.

The band got a guarantee. The prices on these shows aren't going to impact the band's payday here. It will probably impact the next tour. (And I bet it stings the ego.)

 

I would be very creeped out and unsettled if some Reddit posters talked about seeing me in public and knowing where I frequent. Very normal behavior
