Yeah, I honestly forgot all about that part of the argument. It's always sad to see someone so clearly intelligent/articulate use it to defend stealing from/not paying other people for their work.

Yeah this is bullshit. I was just looking at the venue yesterday and there was still actual platinum tickets available besides resale. I doubt those sold over the cheaper resale tickets.

Just caught up on the Hundredth stuff, I think I may have listened to some music in the past from them but not enough to fully commit to memory.

Good way for me to never listen to their music no matter how good it is, and the other posters trying to defend it lol

yup, been thinking this a lot but haven’t wanted to be the one to say it lol. and also just the fact that he works for questionable people in the first place is a huge red flag imo, regardless of then falling out with them

im a little confused even by that marketing strategy …if you emailed people saying a show is sold out wouldn’t they no longer attempt to purchase tickets ?

Maybe they want to stop people from buying tickets because they're about to cancel it. He says with delusion.

The one thing I'll give Sam is that a couple years ago he outed Matt Kennedy of The Dangerous Summer for drugging women's drinks and that's why he got kicked out of the band.

It’s less about selling more tickets and more about controlling the narrative. Calling it “sold out” creates hype, shifts buyers to the resale market (where Ticketmaster still profits), and makes the tour look successful even if tons of seats are still available

For what it's worth, most venues/promoters do consider a show "sold out" if all that's available is platinum and resale.

I mean, haha at them regardless, of course, but that's a pretty standard thing.

Also, tons of tickets got opened up for the Worcester date (it previously looked sold out), and the prices are hilarious. $330 for pit. Fuck all the way off with that. Seems like that's probably going to be one of the most successful dates on the tour, unfortunately. Resale prices are still pretty high.

The Charlotte show looks about the same as when I checked like a month ago. Not sure how you could spin this into any kind of success. If they played GA venues it would’ve been easier to hide how many tickets are still available.

I really wonder what was the strategy behind this whole rollout. (I mean, aside from to make as much money as possible.) The whole “mysterious” thing may work for diehard fans, but you’re not gaining any new ones by being purposefully evasive. I guess you can’t only rely on a few emails, “word of mouth” and social ads to move tickets.

I just checked the BN Cleveland date out of curiosity. 5K venue. GA bleachers is all sold out (not even resale available), the main bleachers, look mainly sold out with the exception of maybe a combined 100 regular and resale tickets left and then GA Floor is still available - but no clue how many.

My guess is this is one of the few shows that is selling well for them, considering it's in a WAY smaller venue than many of the other shows on tour.

I looked at a few other dates, and there's no way they can continue on at those venues (Charlotte for sure)

People know it’s an unethical and lazy shortcut that produces initially novel visuals but with an ultimately hollow aesthetic that rapidly loses any value it has each time someone else does the exact same easy/lazy thing. They just don’t want to confront that reality of AI art and want to avoid accepting it.

When it’s framed as an inevitable and bold artistic breakthrough like the camera, printing press, computers, etc, and framed as pioneers vs. luddites, that’s just the person going hard to drown out their own cognitive dissonance. As I mentioned, the more AI art that gets made, the less novel it becomes and the more the aesthetic reads as easy, lazy, inhuman, and boring to people. Revisit these AI music videos in 6 months. It’s a race to the bottom when it’s used lazily or leaned on to generate 90% of the piece/work.

Yeah, 5k seems like a better fit than some of the other venues. The Charlotte one is nearly 20k if you include the lawn (which is closed). And I think the rest of the venue is about half that size.
