Unfortunately, I still remember a few of my more embarrassing ones, lol.

 

I feel guilty not commenting directly these last few weeks and don’t have anything new to add, but:

I just want to echo what @wheneyeawoke said. Please don’t feel obligated or feel pressured to share anything unless you feel comfortable with it. I’m sure you’ve thought this and are in total control of what you want to share, and with that I just want to say sorry and thank you at the same time @aiyana91

I’m sorry these horrible things happened to you. I had a visceral reaction seeing the photos you shared as it reminded me of a non-related but similar situation in my life and HOW YOUNG you truly were. These power dynamics and the gross & disturbing things artists, teachers, managers, etc. can do to young teens has a ridiculous lasting impact. This dynamic impacted somebody very close in my life, and I was the first person they confided with. And I’ve seen first hand what it does to a person a decade later.

And that’s why I want to say thank you for doing this. You’re using your pain, grief, and story at a significant time with all attention to really fucking do something brave, important, and necessary. You’re giving hope to other victims to also feel vindicated, and I’m just another person here who will support you the whole way.

 

At this point we just need to declare 2005–2007 a federally recognized disaster zone for men with access to tour buses.

Right...I could never prove it, maybe Jason could have some stats that show some stuff, but I feel like the traffic driven to AP and then this site by Blink and Brand New combined has to be a plurality of it, if not an outright majority of it lol. What would be the next closest act to do so after those two? Paramore maybe?

 

Fall Out Boy, My Chem, Paramore would be the next three if I had to guess.

and while I highly doubt it’ll happen, if they do make response, I hope they make some moves towards accountability.

You may already know this, but if not - I wanted to point out that while looking for your update this morning, I noticed that your recent article does not appear in the tag results for JL on Medium - which seems VERY odd to me. I can see the tag at the bottom of your article, but when I click on it, it's then not there in the results (or when searching manually). I know nothing about Medium, so I don't know if you can get it fixed, but yeah.

Thank you to everyone here who’s supported me—your belief gave me the strength to keep going.

I’m sharing something I never expected to share, let alone see ever again: some of the LiveJournal entries I wrote in real time while I was being groomed by Jesse Lacey in 2006. The response to my first article made it clear that the truth and visibility matter, and simultaneously, how deeply misunderstood grooming is, even today.

I won’t be checking responses much today, but I did want to share this here with the folks who have supported me from day 1. Thank you for continuing to witness and validate me in my process. This is all I have left to contribute to this conversation, at least for now.

Perpetual lurker here, but this made me want to chime in. I want to start by saying fuck JL. This last article was gross and we should continue supporting the victims here.


I completely get why this forum doesn’t go after people like Aerosmith or Prince or any of those other classic rockstars, but there are a lot of people in the scene that are getting a pass from everyone here, and it’s become a point of contention with me over the years.

I’ve seen people say that BN is bigger than a lot of the other bands mentioned here so that’s why they are focused on, and also that the allegations against JL are more public. This confuses me because the predatory actions of Pete Wentz toward Jeanae White are well known, but when FOB headlines WWWY there is no outcry, there’s no conversation here, no emails to venues. Nothing. It’s crickets.

It confuses me because Mikey Way of MCR married a 19 year old fan he had know about for years. He was in his 30s. But MCR reunion has been celebrated and sells out. By many of the same people here that rightfully dunk on BN.

Good Charlotte also plays scene festivals and one of the Madden brothers dated Hillary Duff when she was 16 and he was 25. Nobody is threatening to boycott and they are still happy to spend dollars at WWWY even though it supports these bands.

I don’t think this forum should take the heat off BN, but it’d be great to see that same time and energy directed at some of favorite bands here

And before someone says that this is because Brand New tour is current, you can go look through this thread and see how many times people have talked about FOB and MCR while they were in the news.

anyway, my two cents. Fuck all these guys. Have a good one everybody

I agree with your sentiment completely, and as much as I'd like to see Jesse be held accountable (because it happened to me personally), I'm trying to fight for wider accountability in the scene in general. But I'm a bit on guard with the movement that's happening around the articles I wrote.

 

that’s totally fair. But yes, lurker meaning I haven’t had use for an account for a lot of years because I cut down all the toxic online arguments out of my life a while back.

Normally I wouldn’t have said anything if it was your post, but the thread is about accountability in general so it felt like a fair thing to bring up

I’m sorry if it came off in a judgmental way towards you and your story. I hope you continue to find more peace and validation through the conversation here. And again, I hope we can all use this time and energy for ALL the predators in the scene

 

I could be wrong (and can delete if necessary), but I believe that person has reached out to Jason and specifically asked the relationship to not be discussed here.

I don't think this site has a major Good Charlotte fandom tbh. The MCR thing is gross and I didn't know about it, so you're right, we should talk about it. Without making any excuses, at least at face value, I still think it feels a bit different than Jesse soliciting nude photos from children.

I guess I'm just skeptical of any whataboutism in this thread.

 

You're good, there's been a bit of an influx of new posters here chiming in about my article in general so I have my eyes out for bad-faith posters trying to take heat off. All of your points are fair and valid.

 

Fall Out Boy is brought up all the time by Brand New fans on Facebook/Reddit as a way of deflecting the conversation off of Jesse Lacey and on to a wider/broader subject, to the point that it’s a bit of a talking point. I think it’s fair to be skeptical of comments that echo that.
