got it, appreciate you putting this together. I know for me personally, it almost felt like a betrayal of someone I idolized while growing up.

I think also for me personally, I'm just sick of hearing Lacey's and Brand New's name lol.

Hope my post was worded correctly and didn't come across the wrong way.

nah you're good. if you're just casually seeing this thread I can understand why you'd feel the way you mentioned

Yeah I've tried to talk about other things in here because I've seen people not want to talk about BN but those things don't really get traction just because they're not THE thing (which I get of course)

So often when people say "why don't we talk about other things" I assume either 1. they're just tired of hearing about them (which I totally get and immediately knew you were a part of) or 2. want to defend them without outing themselves

Personally I'm fine hearing about them ESPECIALLY as we're getting new info from people but yeah

to be clear, nobody is going to stop you from bringing up other topics or situations involving other people or artists. this is not purely a BN discussion thread, even though it can seem that way. in a weird way it would be kinda refreshing to get off BN for a bit lol

I know some folks here are getting tired of the Brand New discourse. I get it, this stuff is heavy, and it's been a lot to sit with.

But the reason it keeps coming up is because it matters, not just because of one band, but because of what it says about fan culture, accountability, and how our scene handles abuse and power. I also want to be clear: this conversation is being watched. That’s not speculation. This thread is being monitored by people connected to the band and their PR. What gets said here influences how they strategize silence and whether they think they can wait it out.

I'm not just speaking as someone with an opinion. I'm the person who wrote the article. There is more to come

  9. Yeah, as frustrating as it can be to have it dominate the thread occasionally, it's important that the conversation is happening here while other places try to shift blame or ignore the allegations entirely. The thread is obviously open to all current events and news posts and I'm sure those will get discussion, too. It's just that something is happening here causing legitimate movement.

there isn't really a point in talking about whatever Kanye is doing now because he seems less popular than ever and we also can't really impact him putting out an album about Hitler or whatever. but with support, aiyana may actually get Brand New to speak up or pause their plans. wishful thinking, but I appreciate this thread for being the platform it is, and if BN's team is watching, then apparently, it's working

i got made fun of in high school for my takes on livejournal so you can imagine how well that stuff would have aged. i, too, am hoping those posts along with my girl jeans are a thing of the past

Sorry - long post that isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things but has been on my mind since they emerged from their cesspool.

I’ve debated asking/inquiring people’s opinions on how to handle this for a few weeks now and since I can’t make a decision I figured I’d ask in case someone thinks of something I didn’t that may be the best solution:

I have a half sleeve of the cover of Deja Entendu on the outside of my arm and “Fight off Your Demons” on the inside bicep of the same arm. The Deja cover has the colors flipped so the cosmonaut is blue and scenery is red/orange/yellow so it’s not an exact match but if you know the cover you know what it is.

It’s almost spring/summer and I usually always wear tank tops during spring and summer so it’s very visible. The last 5-6 years haven’t been an issue and literally no one has asked me about it or given any looks for having it (even at large events like when I travel for marathons and such where I’m sure some people recognize it to some degree) and I kind of felt no one asked or said anything since the band was “dead” but now that they’re back I wonder if that will change things.

If I was ever asked I’ve always planned to say it was a painting I thought was cool and leave it at that (I believe that that’s true and how it came to be the cover but not positive). But even if no one ever asked and even if I wore long sleeves every day the rest of my life, I know it’s there and that has sucked since the day the news about Jesse broke. But like, do I cover it up? Just black the entire goddamn half sleeve out? Feel like I’d get more questions on that vs leaving it alone lol. Don’t like the idea of laser removal since it is a half sleeve and completely colored in all the way down and around. Just kinda… At a loss for what to do with it if anything.

My fiancée has TDAG on her shoulder (got it literally 2 weeks before the news broke) and no one has ever said anything about it to her. If anyone asks she just says she likes the art but doesn’t mention what it’s from

  16. This more than anything else has been my biggest fear with tattoos. I have thought about a few different things, mostly lyrics, and every-time I’m just like “nah, the second I do that the singer is getting outed as a creep”

Sorry to everyone dealing with that

yeah, i don't have any tattoos, but for a long while i really wanted to get a piece inspired by the cover of A Black Mile to the Surface on my arm, but after hearing about Andy's role in all of this, i don't think i'm comfortable doing that anymore.

  18. went through this a bit with my thursday tattoo but at the end of the day it's a dove which represents peace which i will hopefully always agree with? lol

  19. I have the deluxe 808s broken heart and hands on my chest and while it partially was because of my love for the music, I also genuinely like the artwork as it's own thing (kind of reminded me of the AP.net logo) and even when I have my shirt off in the summer or whatever, literally no one has asked about or picked up on it, so I'm just leaving it for the time being. Don't really have the money to cover it up, but maybe someday.

I think a lot of people here might be targeting Andy and Kevin too much. The most that anyone could or should deduce from what I’ve shared is that they were at least aware that Jesse had underage girls around, and Andy made a very weird joke. I don’t want to minimize that but I think some folks might reading too far into what I shared.

i probably would leave it. if anyone asks, just be honest. you loved the band, the album meant a lot to you so you memorialized it. things change, new things came to light, you love the memories it (the record) afforded you but you no longer support the band it came from. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if people push you, just tell them you don’t want to talk about it. “no.” is a complete sentence sometimes.

The whole tattoo thing is why I haven't chosen to get really any pop culture tattoos beyond my Shining tattoo on my arm. I don't want to deal with that headache. I feel for people who do, though.

Depending on the colors, laser removal is going to be needed first unless you just blast it over.

If you have red and green in your tattoo — good luck. I was able to get a free session of tattoo removal done for a shitty raspberry tattoo on my wrist and the person working on it said red and green are the hardest colors to remove, and on average, it takes 6-7 sessions to fully remove. And it feels like getting popped with hot grease over and over. Much more painful than getting tattooed.
