Idk I think they have always come off very aggressive and rude. I know they have a lot of fans here but it has always rubbed me the wrong way. Where there’s smoke
People love judging lesbians more harshly than they judge anyone else & taking them in far worse faith than they do men who are out there doing infinitely and significantly worse things on the regular. Men are rarely, if ever, held to the same standards & are forgiven by the masses much more easily for much worse actions and I am kind of incredibly sick of it.
i feel like i'm just being a bitch now but there's something real main character syndrome about this tweet that makes me laugh, the guy being like "you are banned from performing at this thing.....that's already booked for this year without you and is happening in about a month!"
It bothers me to no end. The misogyny inherent to the way people interact with how women act vs how men act is incredibly upsetting. I've been fighting it my entire life and it's exhausting.
Am I misunderstanding the situation? Little kid walks by staring at Chappell and the security guy told came to tell her that it was disrespectful? like..is she wrong?
i believe she walked past her table, iirc. maybe she had a specific space that security was monitoring that she just so happened to be in? i feel like some people are making a much bigger deal out of this than it needs to be though. if she was directly responsible for the security guard saying something, then sure, it's not a good look to have him act that way towards a child. but i don't think it's been revealed if she personally sent him over or he took initiative to do it himself based on more general orders. and even then, as bad as it is to be a dick to fans, she's been incredibly vocal about not wanting to be approached in public the past few years, to the point where conversations about it and her experiences with stardom have eclipsed talk about anything else with her career. like even if his daughter didn't know, surely someone of his status could've told his daughter to let her be? this isn't a defense of dickish behavior, but i don't think it's that difficult to understand that even the faintest of interactions with someone who expressly doesn't want to be bothered probably won't go all that well.
I feel like there are three sides to this, of course the soccer player is going to give the one that makes his daughter seem innocent just like I’d expect Chappell to do the same. Until there’s some eyewitness account of Chappell punt kicking this kid in the lobby, I’m tempted to give her the benefit of the doubt to just be entitled to wanting to be left alone. It’s one thing if she’s an asshole on the red carpet or something, but we’ve gotta give celebs some room to be normal people sometimes, no?
At the risk of sounding overly apathetic.. I’m just at the, “who cares?,” phase.. when it comes to things like this. We’re not talking about SA or hate speech, etc.. it’s just, like, another weird story about a rich person? I’m not judging anyone for having a deeper discussion about it, by any means. There are just so many dynamics here that I have no concept of.
Yea this is very weird to have in the accountability thread imo, and posting "YOU WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT YOUR FANS AND YOU DON'T DESERVE THE AFFECTION" because some nepo baby child had a bad experience with not even Chappel herself but a security guard is.....alright then
To a large portion of the world, a woman having boundaries or being rude is a lot worse than a man physically assaulting a woman.
I expected so much worse after seeing the (totally internet discourse like) reaction but this is such a non event lol
I’m inclined to say any more posts on this topic are pointless and a bad use of the thread, lol. But I’d anyone cares, Chappell posted her perspective on her Instagram story, which is that she doesn’t remember seeing the kid, and the security wasn’t from her team or sent by her. Anyways, shoutout to the people who think she needs “held accountable” for sometimes taking strong stances on reasonable matters. No one has to love any pop star or celebrity, lol, but maybe reflect on what you don’t like about her and how close you’re getting to just calling her a bitch.
It's fascinating to me how the person who introduced this topic kind of dropped it and left without engaging with anyone else's points.
Starting an accountability in fashion thread where we can attack celebrities and Josh for their choices
