  1. Feels like I am never hearing about that band for good reasons

Not a fan of Austin Carlisle coming back and making music/touring again. Doesn’t bode well when his comments are restricted on IG.

Feel like this makes even less sense. If the singer is the one receiving threats then why are they the one being dropped?

  7. Just to be clear a peace order can often be filed to prevent the person it is filed against from talking about them publicly

Needless to say, it seems like Topshelf knows much more and is taking the appropriate actions.

Yeah idk the whole situation seems very sad from where i'm sitting. and almost everything i'm reading from posters/commenters on IG/reddit seems to be hinting at the same dynamic. unfortunate to see trans folks beefing with one another so publicly/legalistically like this, especially on the heels of the conceptually awesome liberation festival

  12. Someone I know who was at EA's first show and has put on shows for them and is big in DC punk and Trans scene both posted they were very disappointed that Jael had filed the peace order, but is also in the comments of the Topshelf post denouncing the label. Not a good situation

Miri spent a few days incarcerated for a non-band issue a few weeks before the peace order (I believe in a male facility). She also did not have a lawyer at the peace order hearing (presumably an expenses issue).

I think some consensus in DC is that, however warranted Jael felt like they were threatened by Miri, using the legal system here was more hostile than necessary. That route exploited Miri’s precarious legal/financial position, and is an extension of deeper issues around Jael’s role in the scene.

It reads “while we don’t support this, we get a lot of money from people who do support this, so we’ll let this one fly :seeno:

Dropkick Murphys released a nearly identical statement last year and did the same thing. Hoping DK donates their guarantee to do some good, but I know better.

Well the difference is DK was the first band to call out Brewhaha and they only discovered the connections shortly before the festival so it makes sense they would not want to dissappoint fans. They pretty much killed the festival coming back in any large capacity with their statement.

Dead Kennedys willingly signed up for this shit knowing the support of Trump because they are desperate for money. They are just as bad as any bands playing the Sublime festivals especially Pennywise who just hopped from PITP to the Sublime festival knowing the connections.

Hahaha. Man, I loved “St. Elsewhere” and “The Lady Killer” so much. But each of those albums had the skippable “I like to have sex with dead people” song that made you go “Wait…what?” And then the allegations and his Twitter defense hit and it’s like “Nah, I’m good.”
