I saw someone comment that he also has a new album coming out later this week.

"I love Jewish people" is not remotely close to even begin to atone for his amplification of nazi shit. I hope his newfound commitment goes a lot further than this. The apology is hopefully an overall good thing, and I certainly wish rehabilitation on everyone, but I'd be okay if this dude never had a platform again.

  5. Absolutely bizarre to purposely misread people in this thread of all places who are only wishing he can heal for his family's sake and pretend they are secretly excited for new music or some shit lol

It's terrible literacy that, offense a little bit intended, I'd expect from him

Wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but these posts that really don't stand for anything don't help

There is no reason to take anything that dude says seriously. He was making George Floyd jokes not too long ago. Just ignore the nonsense.

Echoing Wharf. Best thing Kanye can do for himself is just step away for a long time.

I am also not of the sort to be like "IDC fuck him forever" when it's a mentally ill person, but I still don't really think It's helpful to anything for that guy to still be famous right now.

I know it's no one else's responsibility, but it would definitely be interesting to hear from people in his life and see if they think he's actually been putting in the work and changing. Like, again, not her job but it would be interesting to hear Kim say how he's been as a father and a human

I fact checked this real quick, and while yes there is something with a "release date" of Friday, it's the same "album" that has been coming soon since 2024 so I doubt it

Also I think it would help to get something like this statement on video. It would help judge the sincerity a little better. The written presser couldn't have easily just come from a PR person.

There was a picture of Ye with Nick Fuentes at a Thanksgiving party. I’m not falling for this lol

Pretty sure KK was recently on a Call Her Daddy podcast where Kim mentioned that they haven't heard from Kanye in months.

My thoughts on a Kanye redemption arc:

    No thanks!

nobody here is cheering for or promoting a kanye redemption arc lol

he's not a good guy! but if this thread is going to exist, at all, in any capacity, things like the OP should be posted and (maybe) discussed!

  20. And wanting someone's children to be okay should not be conflated with supporting a self-professed nazi, lol

  21. Believing in restorative justice seems like such a foreign concept to some of yall

Wanting someone to change and get healthy isn't the same as rooting for a public redemption arc. I could care less if I see or hear him again. Jesus people.

I’m sorry but taking a full page in the WSJ sours me on this whole thing. Apologizing in a newspaper feels performative to me. You’re Kanye West. Release a statement via your PR, and disappear for the next 10 years.

I absolutely want him to get help, but now he has to commit to it. We can’t have a report in 6 months like “Kanye is back off his meds.”

exactly. it's one thing for someone in power or of status to never have the same standing that they once did. it's another for the person who used that power and influence to hurt others to stop doing so (even bigger if they truly want to change), and commit to ensuring that others don't repeat those mistakes. both things can be true.

i don't want to see Kanye West have a successful career as a creative ever again. while i used to be a fan of his in college, i don't like him anymore and haven't intentionally sought out his work in nearly a decade. he's soured so much goodwill because of his disgusting stances and any actions that stemmed from them, and the consequence of that should be the loss of his audience and platform. him seeking treatment for his health (for himself and his family) and supposedly wanting to take accountability for parroting White supremacist/Nazi talking points (and ensure that others don't either) doesn't negate that.

systems of oppression thrive on numbers. a justice that's only punitive and not restorative does little to combat the rise of harmful rhetoric and action. if he's truly ashamed of his actions and commits to changing, that's a win because those numbers dwindle. like others, i have my doubts about his sincerity given how many times this has happened before. i could very easily be wrong and in a few weeks time we're back where we started. but even if that's the case, that's shouldn't discount the idea that most people would like for him to get out of this mess.
