My brother used to do stage production work and was working the Ryan Adams concert at the Wang Theater in Boston in 2014. He was able to get me back stage and hang out. Ryan Adams invited me to his dressing room, and when I declined he called me a d*ke, so fuck Ryan Adams!

 

I see he’s reached the Desperately-Posting-Engagement-Bait phase of his grift era. Don’t expect this to get any more normal.

Looks like he’s also having issues finding anyone to play with him. His live band consists of his guitar tech and his merch guy. Otherwise, based on a quick scan of his IG, he’s gotta play mostly everything solo.

 

i remember he played in Denmark earlier in the year and made national news because so many people walked out of his show in copenhagen. he was scheduled to play a much larger venue but had the show moved due to low ticket sales.

just re-read one of the reviews and apparently he kept asking the crowd if outside forces paid them to be there because they didn't laugh at his jokes, which included yelling "vagina, vagina, vagina" over loud piano playing, trying to get a "fuck wokism" chant going, and saying "fuck you to all the phoebe bridgers types of the world". one link here (in Danish, obviously).

 

Yikes. This is just embarrassing, among a plethora of other things.

Dont forget he's also the same guy who had his texts to his former manager leak, in which he berated her and told her he's "not interested in this healing crap" and that he wants a plan to a comeback that works. Big surprise his manager quit and then posted the texts.

Dude only cares about milking every last penny out of his few remaining fans left.

Thanks for finding it and posting it, dudes always been unhinged. Love how it's liberals fault for "cancelling" him, and not literally a career of shitty behavior that's been following him since at least 1997 fault.

 

Honestly, it's just depressing that the "power through and hope your ignorant / shitty fans continue to support you anyway" is actually working for acts like RA and BN to varying degrees.

 

I mean, it works in that they continue to get gigs and that truly sucks, but at least in this case the guy seems absolutely fucking miserable.

 

Unfortunately, Heartbreaker is a fantastic album. But RA himself has sucked for years and is obviously spiraling into even worse behavior.

 

Unfortunately for Ryan Adams, his ego won’t let him play smaller venues. Fortunately for us, we get to laugh at his well deserved misfortune begrudgingly playing to 1/4 full rooms and hating every second of it.
