Weak-ass bothsidesism statement, what fucking disappointment

 

Brand New just announced a UK tour... And already the comments on the posts have been closed on all the venues official social media feeds!

 

We're gonna wind up talking about them all over again and I'm just so tired of doing that man

 

Agreed. It felt like in my city it passed with so little drama, and for better or worse I enjoyed that. I didn't hear of anyone going that I know, didn't see anyone talking about going beforehand (at local bars), or hear anyone talk about it after. I know people did go, but I'm happy it passed so quickly and silently. If it's going to exist, just exist in quiet. Can't change the venues decisions, or the people who are buying tickets minds, so I'm happy to just let that wave peacefully drift on by without wasting any energy on caring about it.

 

I live in Birmingham and one of my group chats is talking about getting tickets, which is surprising cause they’re all quite left wing, “woke” people. Was just quite surprising and made me wonder if the average person just genuinely doesn’t care.

 

Love to be 'left wing' and support a band with an unrepentant paedophile frontman.

Luckily they're not coming anywhere near me, but I did see they're playing the OVO Arena in London. Makes me fucking sick. Bands full of better people strive for years to get a shot at that venue and they're hosting a paedophile and his enablers.

 

its crazy how normalized brand new still are in the scene, i saw a local band recently and one of the venue workers responsible for holding the show was out in the open with a shirt for their prudential center show this year. threw up in my mouth a little

 

Seen BN twice in the UK before, and had tickets in 2017 for the post Science Fiction shows, but I’m going nowhere near this. Basically all corporate venues who will gladly be taking the money without a care in the world.

The Newsboys/Tait stuff continues

It doesn't surprise me at all that Newsboys management was aware and complicit in this behavior. The Campbell family is morally bankrupt.

I literally thought about them for the first time in months thinking about how it seems I never heard a damn thing about the tour and that was a good thing.

 

Having been in overlapping circles with Rise Against when younger and clearly seeing them for what they were once the money started coming in, I am unsurprised.

 

Has TobyMac said anything yet about Tait?

Not that it matters I guess. Can’t think of a way he’d respond at this point that would convince me he wasn’t culpable to some degree. Still curious for whatever reason, though.

 

Nope. Still complete radio silence from him and Kevin Max, which…every time yet another story drops and they still say nothing it just continues making them look worse or like they’ve got something to hide and don’t want to say anything out of fear of being caught in a lie.

 

think Kevin said something about forgiveness or whatever on an IG post, and people got upset that that was his response, so he changed it

 

Yeah he posted a really, really vague comment that was basically just gobbledygook word salad and then he quickly deleted it when people started calling him out on being dismissive of victims of abuse. Pretty shit.

 

Kevin definitely seems like the kind of out there “exvangelical” artist type who’d be into a version of “love” and “acceptance” that sucks at accountability & justice. And also seems to have his own struggles.

Toby always seemed the most chill and put together of the three, and also the most well meaning (if still evangelical-brained). But, it’s hard to have a read of this whole mess that doesn’t implicate him in this empire-building predatory facade.

 

Reading through this and seeing the owners/management say over and over again they had no clue...they had the most clue, given the Newsboys were their product and business. Wild to see the denial.
