Y’all I was LIVID at the Better Off situation yesterday. If bands support this fucking asshole, I will lose my shit. This dumbass person who puts out music under the name “Many Rooms” was defending Luke in my mentions after asking if he remembered when he defended his friend who sexually assaulting someone. Like girl....... ain’t NO friendship, and especially no goddamn man, worth defending over shit like this.

I tweeted about it yesterday people jumped into my mentions to defend them and Many Rooms liked all the replies. P sure she's just searching their name at this point so that was fun for me

I haven't seen the video, but from the quotes on that article, isn't the Kelis/Nas thing two way? It sounds like they were absuive to each other from the quotes? Or is it a poor representation of what she actually says?

Honestly, every time I get into a new artist I do this now. I don't want to be the idiot that starts praising an artist I'm unfamiliar with and inadvertently wind up promoting someone problematic. It's just where we're at.

 

i know i personally feel connected enough that i'll either know or find out eventually. but i don't think casual music listeners should feel obligated to google every band that they like on a spotify playlist

 

It's just what I personally do, not what I think everyone should do. I just don't want to wait to find out.

"I hit him back" isn't quite the same - as was mentioned by @iCarly Rae Jepsen, that implies self defense. Folks shouldn't be hitting each other regardless, but as with all abusive behavior it DOES matter who hit first because reactions don't exist without actions.

Most abused people are abusive in return, taken out of context. That's why context is everything.
