call me crazy but I don't miss the slurs and personal insults

 

I started visiting AP on a daily basis while in college (2004ish) and I never even knew there were forums. I always just commented/followed conversations on news articles. I’m guessing I had the same dumb screenname as I do now.

 

I’m younger than most of you guys so I got to have my pretentious asshole phase in the early chorus days. If Jason ever wants to start over a third time I’d be cool with it lmao

 

Yeah, I started out commenting on the news and stayed for the Atticus Clothing contests and eventually the forums.

I loved the website then when I was young and ready to be a keyboard warrior for "my bands". Chorus crowds fit my 38 year old, married with 3 kids life a lot more now than ap would. Growth and maturity are real things in most people's life

 

I came to Ap.net fighting hard with people who didn’t like Anberlin.

Now I don’t like Anberlin (in their current form)

Growth is hard.

 

The fact that there are Nu-Metal and Post-Grunge threads with honest to God unironic participants is to me the best proof of the sea change on this forum.

ap is what made my music taste what it is today and also helped me become more politically and socially aware. there were also some stupid assholes who regularly made conversations feel inaccessible and unapproachable due to others lack of knowledge. also just so much animosity for differing opinions. definitely don’t miss that.

I don't know, I feel like some things still deserve bullying.

 

The cool thing is I've gotten over my distaste for blocking people.

 

Definitely reshaped my politics. I remember once telling someone on AP that I disagreed Run The Jewels saying they were glad Reagan is dead. Changed a lot since then.

the Yellowcard Message Board, which I was also on before finding AP.net. That one and the Ataris board were my early internet hangouts, but the Ataris board could get vicious and I was definitely too shy to post much there.

 

I was also a ycmb lurker back in the day and some of those posters were just as mean as the old AP crew lol
