Doing a song with Morgan Wallen sucks and Joe Rogan sucks but implying he’s a nazi because he wore a jersey with the number 88 is one of the dumbest things I’ve read on this site.

This thread can be so, so dumb.

I think allowing one forgiveness is allowing both, tbh. I think both are kinda shitty idiots who got caught once doing something they’ve probably done plenty more times. Not going to bat for either, just saying I think the situation is pretty similar

I don’t. There’s a huge difference between saying dumb, insensitive shit as a teenager and saying it as a full grown adult

What about saying it as a teenager, profiting off of black art and then working with a dude who very famously used the same slur you apologize for and allegedly “grew” from? I think it’s perfectly fine to say both are ignorant assholes.

I don’t know anything about the situations at hand or the people involved, I don’t follow any of this. I’m strictly saying I think there’s a big difference between saying ignorant shit when you’re young and dumb and saying it as an adult, and I’m personally not going to fault someone for things they said when they were a teenager

Haha okay, well I’m adding more context which is that both of them said it in a dumbass way trying to use slang that wasn’t theirs to use, and both of them only apologized when they got caught. I think it’s weird to give PM such a long leash when he just fed off of black culture for a couple of years and then jumped ship to country and immediately linked up with the other N-word guy to make a song. My point is not to absolve Morgan Wallen, who I think stinks, but to question why everyone is so quick to forgive Post Malone for not only saying the word and getting caught, but also linking up with another dude who did it.

Like, why are we posting all of the times Post Malone has been nice in response to people questioning his motives? I’m sure if someone pulled that shit with Wallen the entire site would jump on them. Hold the same standards.

Just like the TSSF thread, listen to whatever you want. I like the Wallen/PM song. But I’m not going to jump to defend either of them for being ignorant assholes.

From my outside perspective, one of them seems like a genuinely good guy who people only ever seem to have great things to say about, and one seems likes a massive douche from the american south who said the thing they both said when they were much older and who probably actually is racist

That was being typed before your last post was made. But regardless I dunno man it seems wild to me to worry about people online giving a pass to someone who has only ever said something dumb as a teenager

yes? Where a lot of shitty white people are very racist. What’s the problem here?

I am not worried about anything, I’m calling as I see it. I think it’s weird to jump to defend Post Malone for anything. He might be a nice guy, but a million signs point to him being a culture vulture and he is currently selling records with a dude who was very publicly involved in the same scandal he apologized for.

Aside from being a pretty wild generalization that holds no bearing in the conversation, Post Malone grew up as an affluent kid in Texas whose dad was the food guy for the Cowboys. It is the reason I’ve always questioned the cornrows and the accent and every bit of his personality.

  17. The point, at least to me, is that “the American South” is also home to a lot of non-shitty non-racist white people who condemn his actions.

All I’m saying is I have no trouble believing a white country star from the south, where racism is typically more prevalent, who got caught saying the n word could actually be racist.

I’ll admit I didn’t know post malone grew up in the south. I thought I remembered him being from New York but that could very well be wrong

Your argument is my main source of frustration, then. I am in no way trying to absolve Wallen, he’s a piece of shit who should actually make amends for what he did. He also profited off of racists supporting him as a way to oppose “cancel culture”.

But to generalize him as a racist because he’s a country star from the south is where you lose me, especially if you aren’t going to criticize Post Malone for doing the exact same thing. And then to not think critically about how he used the culture and jumped ship at a very convenient time to work with Wallen…idk. I think both should be called out, regardless of the genre they work in.

As someone also from The American South I get that generalization but would also like to point out that Racism Is Everywhere and even as someone not that well traveled I’ve always heard that the further north you go in the US, the more racist it gets!

Post Malone gets more of a pass, I think, for his public persona as a nice guy and the genre he works in moreso than when he said it. He wasn’t a child, he was like a senior in high school already aping the hip hop culture. He used the slur because he felt safe, same as Wallen using it when he thought he was just with his friends.

Giving Post Malone a free pass for that, and then the braids, and then the grill, and then the culture vulture shit, and then for abandoning the genre to work with Morgan Wallen…I mean how many times can you look the other way because he’s a nice guy? I think he can be called out and questioned just as much.

The real crime is this being Morgan Wallen when he was on The Voice.

Yeahh, there are a lot of people up here who use the excuse "how can I be racist if there are no black people here to be racist against?"

I mean for God sakes, we're in fucking NH and I see confederate flags and Trump signs all over the place haha. I didn't even know confederate flags were a bad thing growing up because I knew a few kids in school who had families that proudly flew it
