That's why I'm not like, "hey fuck Miley for this", in the big picture of all things Miley writing this out is like, such a small factor in all the fucked up shit happening. I don't agree with the way she explained it out and think she's missing some of the details but like, it's such a low priority in the scheme of things.

I don’t disagree but Miley also represents lgbtq and women…people in those groups are sometimes looking for the celebrities that represent them to speak out. And some people in these groups do in fact think that educating people can turn people around. Even if I don’t personally agree with her, I don’t feel upset with her for thinking that way. Maybe I’m being naive but I don’t get the feeling she’s excusing him but rather trying to have a teachable moment.

Has this world stopped asking what it's thinking?

A teachable moment is what anyone with indiscretions should be allowed to have. In fact, it should be encouraged. That combined with accountability (like being dropped from high paying, high profile festivals) is a positive thing.

In America it started as a way to lighten things up but is now mostly used by people who are trying to paint the vaccination as something violent and dangerous. Almost every time I see the word “jab” used by an American it’s to paint the vaccination as something worthless or actually insidious.

I hadn't caught onto that. Seems weird as fuck considering most people in the country call it a shot and that sounds more violent than a jab.

For the most part, I agree. I guess I’m just hung up on her bringing up cancel culture as this thing that just exists to send bad celebrities away and nothing else. Without a doubt, Dababy will come back and I hope it is with some kind of education on the LGTBQ+ community. I hope he’s able to respond positively to Miley.

whether we like it or not “cancel culture” is part of the cultural lexicon and people are going to use it to mean different things and in different ways because as a concept it means different things to different groups of people.

    That’s fair

  12. I don’t think that if someone has the intention to genuinely challenge someone else’s beliefs, that they should post about how they deserve to be coddled BEFORE even talking to them. The immediate jump to “cancel culture” in that statement, regardless of what that term means to her, makes it feel like the teachable moment she really wants to have is with the people that are angry with him, and not as much with dababy himself

imo it’s reasonable to be skeptical of celebrities looking out for the reputations of “cancelled” celebrities but definitely nothing worth getting actually mad at her about

"I never liked her" is not relevant when discussing accountability and the ways in which artists hold fellow artists accountable. Saying she needs to shut up just because you dislike her is...not it IMHO.

Looks like Parker Cannon released a new No Pressure track with Harry Corrigan still on drums, so he absolutely doesn’t give a shit after tons of people told him about Harry.

The entirety of hardcore stopped giving a shit about Harry's allegations. It sucks because he's in like two or three other bands that have some clout in the scene, but it's just how it is at this point. I can't fuck with his bands at all personally, but it kind of just falls on deaf ears at this point.

The thing that fucking irks me about the Parker Cannon shit is that he made such a big deal about having changed now he wasn't a drug addict anymore. Then he goes and does No Pressure with that fucking dude.

He could have gotten any other drummer to do it, it's not like he's a "name" that draws people, and Parker knows him singing in a band that sounds like early TSSF will get lapped up.

Super disappointing but I am past defending him.

Around the 22 minute mark, Peter Rosenberg asks, “Would Odd Future have made it in 2021?” to which Tyler responds “Oh, fuck no! We came at the right time, where you could still be crazy. You could still be a kid and fuck up. You could still have satire, you could still allow people to have a conversation even if you disagreed. Right now is crazy. I was just thinking about the idea, I’ve done so much ill shit in this ten year span…. what if they got me out of here in 2011? And wouldn’t allow me to get right here?...People just go back to stuff and go ‘look what he used to do,'” he said. “And it’s like yeah, but I’m not on that no more. So what’s your end goal? When people go back and dig up old stuff from someone who’s here now, it’s like hey, what’s your end goal? Accountable… what does that mean? Is the goal, you shouldn’t do that, you should change and be a better person? Not even me, but to whoever they’re saying it to… I’ve been a better person for the last nine years. That was ten years ago. But I think people like doing that to make themselves feel better about themselves.”
