This is a fucking wild conversation to be happening barely a week after a bunch of women posted about how the aggression from white dudes in this thread/on this site makes them not want to be here. Glad we squashed it a day later to dunk on Ronald McDonald for the 1000th time

 

again, the person who left this site this time was a non-binary person chased off by aggression from someone who seemingly didn’t post in this thread previously, just to call them out for “virtue signaling”

 

There have been so, so many women and people from other marginalized groups chased off this site as a result of the anti-accountability brigade, believe me. But y'all don't care about them, obviously, because this shit keeps happening.

 

I reckon nobody wants to discuss the times I’ve been ran off the site and the time I overdosed and flatlined from a relapse from it because I’m not marginalized

I’m saying this website is fucking destructive to everyone marginalized or not and it makes me sicker the more I engage with it

there are plenty of people on this site and twitter, myself included, who have been supportive of you and your addiction and will continue to do so off this site regardless of your posts in here

Not what I’m saying at all but if we’re just focusing on a single case of someone being driven off the site because they fall under a marginalized group I’m gonna bring up what happened to me because it’s relevant. Two weeks ago I relapsed like a day after someone said addiction isn’t a factor in people’s bad behavior, they’re just bad people and then I almost died. Because I read some shit like that and got heated and engaged in a risky behavior that winds up with me almost dying. That happened on this website.

 

I'm sure my reluctance to open up about it is self-inflicted. I think I just project and assume that people defending the accused must have gone through something similar to me and then when they're (rightfully in most cases) attacked, I feel I must be wrong too.

 

Very telling that the most aggro posters on this site were nowhere to be found when multiple women came forward to discuss their tone and this thread in particular making them feel unsafe. Gave it less than a week and we seem to be back to our regularly scheduled programming.

 

Man you literally posted some toxic shit in here like last week that triggered one of this site’s only trans people to open a dialogue about the way straight white men like you dominate these conversations in aggressive ways and instead of engaging like literally AT ALL you disappeared and that person wound up leaving the site while a few of us practically begged for her to stay. Foh with this “y’all don’t care”

 

And I know Carrow! I interact with Carrow outside of this site! I care about their voice and want them to stay on this site! I am not targeting them specifically when I say, again, that the tone being used in this thread that has been brought up by so many fucking people is a problem that is actively pushing users away not only from this site, but from the issue of accountability as a whole! It's fucking exhausting!

 

Who knows what drives people to defend abusers. I certainly don't know. But that's not what you're doing so no need to feel like you're in the same boat as them.

 

@alina has literally posted in here today with thoughts and gets ignored. And has happened in the past too.

Anyway, I was waiting for this iteration of the convo to turn around and become about me again, surprised it took this long.

 

i think this will be my last post on the public forums of this site, as well. it is no ones fault, i don’t want anyone acting like i was chased off at all. if people honestly think i’m aggressive and don’t care about the things i’ve discussed in this thread, like black israelite anti-semitism in music and the entertainment thread, then this just isn’t a place i need to spend my time frequenting. it’s fine. i’m not 19 anymore and continuing to come here is more of a net-negative than a positive.

I know why it keeps happening, it's because I'm an easy target and I get under these people's skin. I get it. It's easier to talk about me being aggressive than to actually focus the conversation in here on people in the music industry that do shitty things. We've already spent way more time discussing people's tones than we spent unpacking why it's messed up that Ian Cohen minimized Scott Hutchison's mental health struggles or why Needle Drop dude continues to have a platform despite constantly courting the alt-right.

 

Imo you’re a net positive and I hope you come back. If we’re talking specifically accountability, I appreciate your posts & voice on anti-semitism if not for only how little it’s acknowledged around here. Have never gotten the vibe that you want to dominate the conversation

 

Didn’t say you got into with them, said you triggered the conversation, which you did with this post here. Whether or not you agree, you certainly didn’t stay around to stick up for or support the marginalized user in question

 

lotta crickets after meerkat's post last week, anyone from this group wanna comment on that? because it sure seems like you're more interested in defending each other and the way you choose to post than the multiple users who explained why they don't feel safe posting here anymore
