Not sure if this is even worth mentioning here, but I know a lot of people have a lot of feelings about Ian Cohen, specifically the frightened rabbit review he did. I was listening to his podcast and this week’s episode he does briefly talk about that situation and how it’s the one review he regrets the most. He doesn’t specifically apologize or anything, there’s not really anything he could say that would make it right, and I get the sense he knows that. Idk, I’d just never seen him mention it publicly and thought I’d bring it up.

I just read the review. It's a bad review, but how was he to know any of what was to happen?

People question the legitimacy of countless artists, always have and always will. What to some people comes across as genuine, to others may at first appear performative. They would be wrong in this case but I don't think that's a crime...

It's poor from him and he should have known better, but I don't see why it's so bad it would prompt this response? I remember when that final Linkin Park album came out and the absolute waves of people who were declaring it an aberration, and a sell out, and totally fake. Should they have to apologise publicly too?

he should have said something way sooner and nothing short of a unreserved apology would have sufficed but that's just my opinion

Both love and hate to see it, love that they actually got dropped but hate to be reminded of Die Antwoord and remember I used to be a fan of their stuff. Very young and naïve me.

fucking wild post. you don't have to "know what's coming" to not trivialize someone's depression, especially when said depression is one of the two or three things scott was associated with his entire career. this isn't an example of being bad with hindsight, it was awful in the moment and should have never been said in any scenario.

Truly don’t understand how Ian Cohen has any kind of respect or clout whatsoever.

remember when he said midwestern factor workers work mindless jobs and then they edited it out of the review lol

The Get Hurt review is still also extremely shitty. It’s a multitude of things with him.

Kinda reminds me of the Pitchfork review for the latest Julien Baker record. The review was a lot of just how the lyrics are too depressing instead of actually engaging with the lyrics. While the review wasn’t by Ian, it doesn’t seem like Pitchfork has the best writers to handle discussing music that deals with depression.

uhh, this final paragraph there is kinda hidden at the end too...

O’Bannon was also accused of shooting and killing a 39-year-old man named Torre Foree last August outside X-Clusive nightclub in the Louisville suburb of Shively, but Wine’s office has not decided whether to press charges in that case.

I didn't have my glasses on & thought that was Rihanna & Chance the Rapper, then saw the next comment saying it was Chris Brown... and for about 6 seconds I thought that Rihanna & Chris Brown were hanging out again:-O
