Movements happening at a certain time and place in culture is part of what makes them movements. Of course punk wouldn’t happen today, it was a reaction to the dominant cultures of the time. Accept the movement you were a part of for what it was, and recognize that it’s a good thing that writing a song like “Attitude” wouldn’t fly as easily today as it did then.

I feel fairly confident this was planned by the Bieber team as part of the Justice album cycle, but the timing is eh. This kind of parallels that discussion about Phoebe Bridgers encouraging people to donate from a few weeks ago too

The Kacey thing is weird because I feel like the photoshoot/event itself could have been fine if she didn't decide to put that caption? Like helping out a local business or whatever it was, dunno how she misjudged having a silly caption like that

 

I agree with this. A lot of the bands/musicians posting about Black Lives Matter, anti-racism information, etc. last summer but then just going back to their regular content without putting in work to actually help/work with/employ folks in the black community (and other POCs) is disappointing.

Did not know that about Absinthe Father. They designed some album artwork for me last year and I definitely wouldn’t have gone through with that if I had known about that JJR thing.
