At this point I’d say MO is bigger than BN and they’re way too smart to associate with them. I’d say it’s verrrrryyy unlikely we’ll see a MO/BN show or tour.

 

Remember when Bad Books had a song about homophobic violence and for whatever reason, BN Reddit was like “Ah, this surely must be about Jesse.”

 

eh. not to give even a modicum of props to a band with a disgusting person, but brand new’s streaming numbers are almost as large as manchester orchestra’s, who just dropped a new album, when brand new hasn’t put out new music in four years. manchester is marginally bigger, if at all.

 

Brand New is much bigger. They had a Billboard #1 album.

But yeah, I don't think they'll go so far as touring but I fully expect MO to talk about forgiveness and moving on from mistakes etc. Which would be a discussion to be had if absolutely anyone in that band showed any sort of remorse or willingness to change

 

If MO is stupid enough to say stuff like that then they deserve what they'll get in response.

But I don't think it's really a worthwhile exercise to speculate about stuff that hasn't happened yet, personally.

Also MO didn't defend them at the time the allegations came out (whereas someone like Kevin Devine basically did) so why would they defend them now? Just seems like it would be a weird turnaround for them.

Yeah Kevin Devine absolutely fucked it with his response when the allegations surfaced. You don't have to say shit either way and they don't need to if, god forbid, the paedophile and his enabler bandmates returned. I know Andy and Jesse were close but times change.

 

i would hope with as much as andy talks about mayzie/wanting to be a good dad he would know better than to defend someone who prays on underage women

What depresses me endlessly is if BN did return how much fucking bullshit and positive spin he’d get for “overcoming” and “changing” himself. And so many people will eat it up everywhere. Fuck that so much. Please stay the fuck away.

 

It hasn't even been four years, but yeah it will be all "Well he did the work what more do you people want from him?" and "You keyboard warriors don't actually believe in restorative justice."

First of all, he went and hid and did nothing else all this time so what amends has he made to those he harmed?

And second of all: no forgiveness or redemption for pedophiles ever, under any circumstances.

 

The best thing Jesse Lacey can possibly do with his life at this point is stay as under the radar as possible and avoid ever getting in the public light again

Also almost every single news source, suburban mom, talk show host, religious organization, etc. had tried to "cancel" punk, metal, hardcore music since the beginnings of those genres.
