The person the above is about is Ciaran but it seems like there’s bad behavior with more people in their circle too.

Also people are saying they couldn’t fire him right away because of their contract with the label/tour with Blink but...bands remove members all the time (including during tours). I don’t buy that they contractually could not remove him, especially since the tour was months away.

 

Maybe if the tour was literally about to start the next day I would say yeah I get where they're coming from, it's still irresponsible to take somebody like that on tour where they'll be exposed to fans but the other band members have obligations and a livelihood they need to protect and you can't just cancel a tour with no backup plan. Like they still should have scrambled to find somebody else even if it was the next day, obviously, but at least they wouldn't have been completely talking out of their asses. But seven months is such a long period of time that using that as the reason is absurd.

 

Sleep On It broke up because they kept Neverkept on their tour despite being confronted/knowing about his actions before the tour and doing nothing about it. This situation is no different. They knew and didn’t do anything for months. Although they eventually removed Ciaran, it’s a shame that too often bands can’t seem to do the right thing right away.

 

Sleep On It’s singer also had allegations against him for being shitty.

 

Don't forget about Better Off. They were asked to kick a touring member off tour because allegations surfaced, and they chose to drop off the tour and go on hiatus instead.

 

So Blink 182 probably knew about this too right?

 

Given the shitty people they associate themselves with, I'm not convinced they would have done shit about it even if they did know.

 

I agree with the above but they're so big I doubt they knew in this case.

 

If anything, as shitty as those dudes are for how they responded to that situation in their statements, this was actually better than what TFB did because at least they didn't then go out on tour with the abuser!

 

I very much doubt blink-182 knew about this. The survivor doesn't say she was ever in contact with blink-182's people about this and also why would TFB tell them if they were trying to cover it up anyway?

blink-182 has plenty of other skeletons in their closet but I doubt this is one of them personally.

I’m surprised they haven’t spoken out yet. Sure, they let Ciaran go but if not for this persons statements no one would know about Ciaran being bad. Just feels like the band is trying to let this pass without commenting. You have a duty as a band to let folks know when one of your members is an abuser and failure to let your fans known is a disgrace. As more stories come out, the worse it will look for them if they stay quiet.

Edit: The situation with their crew member is awful too and they need to speak about that as well.

 

It feels similar to what happened with The Killers earlier this year...but that band responded within a day. Big difference here.

I am so fucking upset reading all of this. A memory just came over me.

In 2012-2013 I easily met this band without even trying to meet them. They were so accessible. They were playing an outdoor show in MA at a college campus. A few friends and I (which included several women) chatted with them for probably 20 minutes. They asked us several times if we wanted to party with them after. We were 18-19. We didn’t end up doing it.

Now hearing these stories from survivors, it pisses me off SO much and makes me so sick. I feel terrible for all of these women. This behavior and abuse of power is fucking awful. Fuck all of them.

Parents (mostly dads from what I’ve seen) who abuse their children by forcing them to do tasks they are too young to do or haven’t learned yet are disgusting and don’t deserve to be parents. This is repulsive. You’re supposed to help and guide your child through life not shame them when they can’t do something they’ve never done before.
