I don’t get why some musicians want to have physical concerts so bad. What’s the rush? especially if you aren’t in dire need of money which I assume DaBaby and Vanilla Ice aren’t. Why do people want to be the first ones holding concerts so desperately, especially when we are seeing surges of cases all across the states?

Billboard deserve to catch as much heat for this attempted rehabilitation of Ben Hopkins as Pitchfork did for the Pinegrove piece that revitalised Evan Stephens Hall's career.

their music was never even good to begin with. the desperation to bring them back is baffling to me.

I know you mean well but the quality of the music is not the important thing. The desperation to bring them back is based in a culture that holds reverence for “talent” and wealth above the suffering of women.

The thing I never understood was Liv could have have kicked Ben from the band and stood with the survivors and had a very successful career. Now Ben trying to launch a solo career just makes the situation even more baffling to me. No one wants this

  16. TBF no one knows what Liv is going through or if it was traumatic enough for them to even want to keep making music.

Yeah I commonly see people say stuff like “I never liked their music anyways” when these stories come out or are brought back up and that just seems unnecessary, it in a way puts the focus on you versus the actual issue at hand. Your personal feelings about the band are not relevant to the public discorse.

They were also a very important band for Queer kids everywhere so that stance is particularly annoying to me with regards to this band. Many people(including me) were devastated when that situation unfolded.

Exactly. Because it also implies that if the music was good, it would be justified to re-platform them.

something of importance to note here.

Every time I see someone talking about this dude it’s always in the context of “Formerly of Vanna”. He’s currently in Trove, which is a band that actively tours when not in the middle of a pandemic.

Yeah, this hit the community hard. Their shows and music were such safe spaces until we learned this. Honestly this hit me as hard as Brand New.

I would like to know how articles get approved and published for Billboard because I am sure some other folks who work for them were not pleased with the publication either, and I hope their voices were not silenced or jobs threatened if they tried to speak out.

Yeah same. It's definitely the one that hit me the worst. I wasn't ok for a good while after.
