i didn't check this thread for like 1 or 2 days and all of a sudden there's like two pages of posts responding to a now deleted user, what the fuck happened here

 

A user was trying to convince people that a pedophile shouldn’t get as long of a sentence as he did because he was related to him by marriage. It was brutal.

 

i looked through some of the quoted-reply posts (the messages were still there) and fucking YIKES


but in relation to something from a few pages back; i don't know why the hell there wasn't a bigger concern over Doja Cat back when it came to light her extreme use of homophobic slurs. back when those came up she then made a post addressing them where she basically doubled down, said she wasn't sorry, and was probably gonna continue to use them.
like, the homophobia alone should've been enough to stop fuckin with her, before the anti-black shit came up

Yeah I think it started with a thread from a fan which explained the whole thing through a very biased lens, absolving her of everything without adressing any nuances. Twitter is really bad when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Ha I didn't save the link and am struggling to find it again. It was one of the top tweets on that hashtag at the time. I'm mostly seeing tweets that call out the latter now, so perhaps the original one got deleted.

 

Honestly the last thing we needed was this shit, another person who wasn’t involved telling me how much this person sucked. I don’t understand the fascination with this honestly middling twinkle emo band that got called out before their first major support tour started. All anyone involved wants is for people to shut the fuck up about this band and no one can do it

Yeah that video comes across as someone trying to corner a niche market of interest for internet points. Very exploitative, not necessary

 

Also the dude kind of really goes out of his way to drive home that he thinks that band's music is really good and how much of a "tragedy" it is for the fans that the band ended just as they were blowing up. Like, not really where your concern or sympathies should be, pal.

 

I had no idea they/PP had such a large following.

 

That Youtuber (Nate the Mate)'s entire channel is pretty much all videos about "canceled" bands (Brand New, Sorority Noise, Moose Blood, etc.) where he consistently brings up how great their music is and how it's a shame they don't do anything anymore. He comes across not only as extremely insensitive but also pretty dumb imo

and Tom Fisher's response which, predictably, avoids taking the blame or issuing any particular apology for his actions. awful.
