I got beat up by a hardcore gang at a show a few months ago (Harms Way / Jesus Piece). I'm fucking done going to these shows. I was targeted, hit, thrown to the floor, all because these toxic males who think "it's just dancing" or "don't come to these shows if you can't handle it".

Youtube is such a cesspool and it really sucks that Taylor is gonna be drawn into this narrative too

Shouldn't have anything to do with Taylor. Ppl are weird if they're bringing that up and using a "gotcha" like that on a female sexual assault victim instead of holding the man in question accountable would be like the opposite of actually caring about the issue.

If you click on the tweet the second reply is about a situation with Taylor (basically indirectly? But still) so I’m sure people WILL be roping her into it

I'm really sorry this happened to you. Shows should be a safe space. Just curious, where did this happen? Can you elaborate on this situation at all?

I've been to 500+ concerts over the last 20+ years (mostly hardcore and metal) and have heard these stories, but never witnessed anything like this. A few small fights here and there (usually one or two drunk assholes), but for the most part, people aren't trying to hurt each other.

I avoid the pit all together and absolutely loathe people that crowdkill or involve people that obviously don't want to be involved, or even those that just go super hard in the pit and wind up "accidentally" hurting others.

Thanks for the support, really appreciated. I'm sure you can check my profile and figure out what venue I was at, but I'm honestly afraid to put it out there more openly.

My brother was affected as well. We were watching Portrayal of Guilt (who, to their defense, were clearly not happy to be a part of a lineup which attracts shitty fans). Towards the end of their set a gang from Long Island barged in, and within seconds there's a fist flying at my face. I was standing a couple people off the side of the pit, and hadn't had anyone come close to me before that. We tried protecting ourselves and throwing down with them, but security intervened. My mistake after was a) going outside to cool off (they followed us), and then b) running my mouth to these sadistic fucks who took it as an excuse to jump us 5 on 2.

We came away mostly unscathed but it could've been so much worse and scared the shit out of me.

That's super fucked. Are you sure they were a "gang" and not just 5 assholes that wanted to pick a fight? Either way, that's incredibly disheartening.

They were a gang. Same colors, logos on their clothes, etc. I even spoke to one of the guys about it, and he clearly agreed they were a gang.

Read my post man. Also, do not start with questioning my thoughts on this matter. I was there. This happened to me.

Sure, this is not a gang on the level of MS13 or the Crips, but they went out with the intent to hurt people under the guise of "it's ok, because its hxc"
