As someone who is very against the prison system I don't care that he's not locked up, but he absolutely should not be on a public platform and he needs to be seeking help from professionals to keep him accountable and make sure it doesn't happen again

I can't believe he and the other members have the gall to try and come back.

There are PLENTY of vocalists out there that they could have gone to instead of returning to AILD. So gross.

I thought he served 6 years (or was sentenced to 6)? My personal viewpoint: serving prison time should be more about rehabilitation than vengeance. For his, his family, and society's sake I hope he is no longer the same person anymore. That doesn't mean I'll listen to his band though.

    $$$ ?
I think Tim owns the name... I'm not sure if there is anything more to it than that.

I mean, yeah, of course it's for money. That's why it's gross.

I’m all for second chances but not when it comes to having a public platform like this. You lost that chance, gtfo.

My understanding is that Tim owns the AILD name. It sucks he is getting a platform again, but it's inexcusable what the other members are doing to willfully commit to that project again. I get supporting your family, but I wouldn't be able to look myself in the mirror and feel ok about what I'm doing. They must be able to, I guess.

You can support your family and also have some sort of moral compass and integrity. But I agree, the other members I’m sure have their reasons, but there is no justifiable defense for backing Tim at this point.

there you go. this is a good take. I think that with everything everyone knows about the prison system it's weird to think that the solution is to just lock someone up... longer.

there are definitely tons of ways to support your family without having to be in a band. hell, become a counselor or something if you want to still connect with people and be a positive influence on society.

I guess my main thing is, his ex-wife has to live with what happened forever. There is no "time served" for her, just trauma that she has to live with and deal with forever. So I don't really give a shit about this dude trying to turn his life around or whatever. He doesn't deserve a public platform and truly, he shouldn't even be the focus of this. Has anyone even thought about what all this news may be doing to her? I can't imagine.

  14. Yeah.

And honestly... maybe it's a hot, unpopular or bad take or just the PTSD talking but I will never lose a moment of sleep over the idea of a domestic or sexual abuser spending time in prison, especially considering most of them will never even see the inside of a courtroom - let alone a jail cell. And that's coming from someone who despises everything about our legal and penal system - I just don't have it in me to extend much humanity to them anymore. Luckily for them, there's lot of folks who still will. Just not me, personally. It's too much.

I saw this post the other day (: When people have a problem with men receiving... sorry I don’t know how to properly link on mobile) and it seems nice and relevant now, and this isn’t like, shade at anyone here because it is relevant and necessary convo at times, but it’s also important to remember who we put at the forefront of these conversations, and how people (and I’m not talking even like in this thread but in the world in general) will use issues that largely effect those without privilege and co opt them to talk about powerful white men who actually face even the slightest bit of consequence for abuse

holy cow that website design hurts my eyes.

Here is the text of the post:
"When people have a problem with men receiving little to no jail time for being rapists and abusers of women then leftists and progressives wanna chastise women for not being prison abolitionists. When those in the justice system face an extremely rare consequence for enabling this, like Aaron Perksy being recalled because of the Brock Turner case, they again cry about how women are the real oppressors for being displeased that a judge showed “mercy” for a sex degenerate because blah blah prison industrial complex blah blah be nice to abusers. There’s all kinds of articles telling women they’re just big mean hussies and “carceral feminists” for daring to celebrate a corrupt judge losing his power instead of calling on the institution to correct the flaws that lead to this. None of you hoes are abolishing a prison anytime soon so in the meantime I'ma pop the biggest of bottles when these freaks rot in a cell or lose their power to use the justice system against the victims. "

At least they actually acknowledged it for once... I mean they've posted about AILD and With Confidance today... BUT THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT ALLEGATIONS ARE OUT THERE

Can't believe my bar for that rag is so low that I'm surprised they simply acknowledged that allegations exist.

One thing I will point out about this article even though it’s a pretty tiny detail is that they point out Hawthorne Heights as an example of that era of quote-unquote “emo” bands’ toxic masculinity when to be honest their discography is really the only one to come from that scene that DOESN’T have any “I hate/want to hurt my ex” type lyrics. This is probably unnecessary to mention but bothered me slightly lmao

Not really unnecessary to mention when there's no shortage of actual problematic emo bands to use and a publication wrongly uses one that's fine. Really irresponsible writing and poorly researched

  25. The whole "women present only as catalysts for broken hearts" in the scene thing more or less tracks with HH, but yeah... not who I'd call out from that period for being problematic. That said, it's not really shocking that a man writing about toxic masculinity would miss the point, tbh. Definitely lazy to just choose a large band from the time period instead of finding one who ticked off all the boxes the piece was about.
