Sadly unsurprising considering Aaron shat on me on Instagram for calling them out for supporting Ronnie Radke

To be clear I wasn't endorsing it or anything, just showing that we aren't the only ones having the discussion still. And the thing about the comeback, if true is important

  4. Yep, like I said, not intended to target you - just giving my read on it. The bit about the comeback strategy was definitely interesting.

The National, a Scottish newspaper, sent a reporter to Chris Brown’s concert in Glasgow to ask attendees if they knew about Chris Brown’s violent past and all that he has been accused of or done. The way many of the people try to downplay everything or not care is really frustrating.

Thank you for clarifying that it’s the Scottish newspaper.

they’ve always been pieces of shit, dating back to their homophobic propaganda they were spouting back on warped like a decade+ ago.

wait, i wasn't aware of the homophobia. what's the story here?

  10. I just remember hearing (maybe from Jason?) that they had pro-Bush stickers on their equipment back in the day.

Really hate to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like Aaron Weiss was spotted at the Philly show, which makes sense because it also looks like they covered a mewithoutYou song. Some other band members/musicians (like Halsey) rumored to have attended shows, but I don't know how much we want to go down that road as much it's just something people in here are probably gonna wanna think about.

Yikes this Underoath interview is disappointing to listen to. At first I thought Aaron was going to be the voice of reason when he was calling Jesse out for planning out his corporate redemption narrative....but then he starts saying stuff like "well he's married now and he's done therapy." We're talking about grooming children you weirdos who cares if he's now in a monogamous relationship!
I am intrigued by Neil alluding to witnessing something extreme pre-2017 and teasing an upcoming podcast where he shares it.

Urgh I'd be really disappointed to find out Halsey attended a show, but is there much weight to that rumor? She's been on a North American tour since May and Im pretty sure she was on the east coast when they were on the west and vice versa.

i did some digging and it seems to tie to their conservative upbringing, happened back in the mid-2000s, and somehow involved Fat Mike calling them out? definitely not good, and as a gay man i'm absolutely not defending those comments in any way, but if that was 20 years ago, i'd imagine that's something they no longer espouse/probably regret given their exit from organized religion. but hearing them defend BN does kind of underscore that they probably haven't unpacked all of that type of thinking.

really upsetting to hear others attend shows too, but not entirely surprising (i know Halsey has mentioned how much of an influence they've been on their music, even after survivors started coming forward).

I’ve seen people say he was there in the mwY subreddit but not from anyone who actually appears to have been there themselves.

Not to discount it entirely (probably one of those things that won’t be confirmed without Aaron coming out and saying if he was there either way which is…unlikely). But considering he hasn’t actually lived in Philly or Pennsylvania for many years, I’m also not inclined to take the reports at face value either.

  15. Comment I found was from someone in the Brand New subreddit saying he was in line in front of them. Obviously doesn't lend a ton of creedence, just another source.

  16. saw this as well and another person pointed out aaron lives in idaho now so if he were to attend a show one of the PNW ones would have made more sense.

i guess that doesn't mean he couldn't have been in philly

  17. I'm also not trying to start a witchhunt re: other band members/artists seeing Brand New, it's more so that the post I saw felt in line with the Underoath discussion and I just think even without anyone we know opening these shows, we should probably be ready to see some of our community favorites unfortunately supporting the band

The JL solo album comeback to take some heat off of a BN comeback makes no fucking sense considering the band literally just completed a US Tour.

They don't give a fuck about the heat and seeing a bunch of dudes on a podcast be all giddy about their comeback is quite frankly one of the very reasons they were able to do the tour.

I have never technically met Aaron, but I have some personal connections to him and I know a bit about his upbringing from my mom telling me, and yeah it was very very conservative.

fat mike read them to filthhhhhh on both warped shows I saw that year, I want to say like 2005-2007ish? He would rip them between songs.

they complained to Kevin L that Mike was bullying them due to their Christianity, when he was just calling out their homophobic bullshit.

It’s been a minute, but in Where’s Your Boy Tonight, both parties are interviewed and, IRRC, Fat Mike admitted to being an asshole to some extent.

I have zero skin in the game as I never got into either band and I’m straight. Also never went to Warped for various reasons. But in the book, I feel like they didn’t get into any of the homophobic issues, IIRC, it was more of a general being a “Christian” band.
