I will say the parody account label doesn’t seem to be always accurate. I’ve seen some fan accounts that only post legitimate news about whoever it’s an associated with and they have that tag too.

 

I mean the “character” from the video that was thrown out of the window and comes back to life in that Metropolis inspired part? It’s been years since I’ve seen it.

Not surprised that a fest that books bands like Guttermouth, The Dwarves, Street Dogs, The Defiant and The Interrupters would support MAGA. Hopefully bands start dropping off soon. I can't see Propaghandi sticking around and doing the shows.

 

I know Guttermouth dropped Warped bc anti-Bush sentiments, but could you expand on the other bands? Also, Propagandhi announced today they were cancelling all US dates in 2025.

Also i've seen them get hate for being racist which wouldn't surprise me at all, i've tried listening to them and some of the lyrics rub me the wrong way about not listening to what the majority want, like maybe listen to some of the backlash and take some accountability

My knowledge of older Infowars history is not the most well versed but going on it in 2008 seems like the equivalent of just being like, dumb and naive in comparison to going on Infowars post like, 2012 which would be more actively hostile. I think prior to around 2012 Alex Jones' biggest general controversy was being a 9/11 truther. Which in the grand scheme of Alex Jones and Inforwars, is not nearly the worst thing he's been ascribed to.

 

I'm sure he's always been shitty to a degree, but Linklater was also featuring him in his films up through A Scanner Darkly. Counterculture and conspiracy theories didn't always look the way they do today.

 

But I also don't know this band and would never go to bat for a ska band, lmao

 

That's a weirdly dismissive comment about an incredibly varied genre with a diverse range of people and one of Jamaica's biggest musical exports to make in an accountability thread.

It was just a joke because I don't like ska.

 

Amy from The Interrupters has a history of libertarianism, supporting Alex Jones, and being very ery defensive when asked about it. The Defiant started as a band because they were all kicked out of their other bands because they wouldn't get vaccinated and took their band name from that. Street Dogs have been doing some shows with them and Al Barr, who curiously doesn't have time to go back to Dropkick (while they have been very openly anti Trump) but does have time to do shows with them, and in the past has used the f slur to tell people to come to a show, and the Dwarves are one of the most misogynistic bands in the punk world.
