I think I saw a Selena Gomez interview a few weeks ago where someone asked her about his allegations and she just said something like "I don't know how to answer that question" and they basically moved on EDIT: Oh it's in that article. She didn't even try to come up with something
I love how she always uses her platform, it's disheartening but not surprising that someone emailed her about it
Salma Hayek speaking out about her experiences with Harvey Weinstein. Harvey Weinstein Is My Monster Too
shocking surprise a white boston bro has terrible opinions about something. should we call up bill simmons too?
I watched Manchester by the Sea, but it was as part of AMC's Best Picture Showcase. As much as I liked the movie and Casey Affleck's performance in it, half the time I was thinking about the fact that there are these allegations against him. I didn't watch A Ghost Story in theaters, but despite everything I still want to watch it at some point. My memory of things I've already seen him in, as well as how I feel about his future movies, if I decide to see them, has been tainted. IIRC, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have been... not so great when dealing with news about Casey Affleck and Harvey Weinstein. I watched Justice League recently and didn't feel bad about it. I guess it helps that I have a Moviepass, so it's technically not me paying to see a movie that Ben Affleck is in. Also, it's not him that did those shitty things, he's just related to the guy. As I was watching the movie, my conscience was, more or less, clear. With Matt Damon, it's like, well yeah he's an asshole for always saying stupid shit, but he hasn't done anything himself, so I can still watch Downsizing and not feel bad. Right? I feel like that's where I've drawn then line, but I don't know, maybe I should be stricter about it?
I'm gonna see Downsizing,if I stopped watching every movie with a dumbass in it I don't know if there would be any movies left haha, A Ghost Story was fine for me to watch because you don't see his face for 90% of the movie but it's a personal call
Hey @Jason Tate (or @Henry or whoever else), think we could get this thread stickied? I think this is a good resource that deserves to stay on the first page at all times. Also, @OhTheWater, would you be interested in updating the first post when you get the chance to explain what the thread's for, as well as with some resources (like this one I saw posted in another thread recently: https://therottenappl.es/)? I'm shooting to do the same for the Representation thread (based on a recent observation that it could do better at being a place to boost marginalized voices) and think something similar could be useful here. (On that note, if anyone has any links they'd like to see in the Representation thread's first post as a good resource, let me know!)
Peter Jackson Confirms Harvey Weinstein Sabotaged the Careers of Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino with a Smear Campaign
he has seemed like a pretty messed up individual for a while now but, yeah, that's a pretty harrowing step beyond anything previously
Yeah honestly I think Harvey burned too many bridges. If an actress didn't have her own story about him she probably knows someone who does so when he was outed people came for him. I'm sure Woody probably treats them nicely so they do not care. They can shake it off as none of their business or something that happened a long time ago so they can continue to benefit from Oscar buzz in his movies. It's sad.
it’s been posted in the music thread too but given Riz is more known for acting, figured i’d post this here too. tweet’s thread makes it sound like it’s been an open secret.
