I used to get hooked on a reality show every now and then when I would be bored and filling time, but now I don’t have much time so I never get drawn into any of it. I think most of it is just mindless and harmless but there’s a bunch that is exploitive and/or enables and platforms some really crappy people so I don’t think it’s just a snob thing to criticize reality tv.
Competition reality shows like Survivor, Traitors, The Mole, The Circle, and similar, hook those directly into my veins. I’ve also applied to be on many of them to no avail. All the ones about dating and romance don’t really do anything for me though
I don't think I'm emotionally strong enough for reality tv. It upsets and frustrates me. My ex would watch these shows and I could never sit in the room for more than a few minutes.
Yep haha, the season of Down Under that just ended. It's the only season I've seen of his so that's all I have info from
i have no room to judge, i watched like five seasons of ANTM, this was wayyy before i read about how toxic Tyra was
This is interesting to me because I literally turn to reality TV when I have no emotional bandwidth and just need to consume junk with no real emotional consequences lol
I am very embarrassed that Maher's show was a weekly watch for me at one point. I stopped when he used a certain slur but it should have come sooner.
a family friend of my parents always tries to brand herself "the most liberal woman in Missouri", but always talks about how much she loves Bill Maher, and doesn't hesitate to misgender trans people anytime a trans person she knows is brought up in conversation
