I’m a little torn. The IDF and Israel has been committing war crimes and ethnic cleansing long before Oct 7. So if you supported them at all I think the onus is on you to at some point speak out, especially as the conflict has escalated to genocide. As far as the awards stuff, I could care less what the stupid academy thinks about the best movies of the year lol
Around 10 years ago when I was a regular listener to The Nerdist podcast, Jonah mentioned being out in LA one night and spotted him (without naming him, only saying it was the son of a famous film guy) and he was outside a club trying to get in and he kept shouting “you know how many scripts I sold this year?!?!”. They later said it was Max as they ended up interviewing him for an episode and they brought it up. Max’s excuse was he was satirizing the douchebag Hollywood type to get in but in retrospect I think he has always been a Hollywood douchebag.
In sports you will see teams make excuses for superstar players but cut or suspend the marginal players very quickly. Landis was never even a particularly good screenwriter in the first place, so bringing him back when there are 1000 waiters trying to get a writing gig only makes sense under the idea that they are intentionally doing it to bother people.
watched about 15 minutes of the interview he did with channel 5. so bizarre, so sad, he is such an inadvertent spokesman for sobriety rn
That interview is genuinely a bummer to watch, he’s just spiraling out and watching him just ramble and be incoherent feels rather exploitative.
Ummm…aren’t all male professional athletes MAGA? Can’t really think of many that have an anti-MAGA stance. if you’re rooting for a pro sports team at least 80% of that team is MAGA, either through their privileged upbringing or due to the great tax breaks with their new found generational wealth. im actually struggling to think of a single openly anti-maga male professional athlete?
There have been players and even whole teams that refused to go to the White House for the traditional championship celebration. Generally speaking, basketball is the least conservative and football is more conservative. You have to remember that a majority of the players are Black so they aren't going to be that far-right.
I’m guessing the poster doesn’t follow sports that much or just doesn’t understand that rich people can very easily be liberals.
