Dropping a reminder in light of news out of the UK that buying any licensed Harry Potter merchandise or watching movies on streaming platforms or continuing to buy new video games is directly giving money to JK which she then uses to fund things like the recent ruling that trans women are by UK law not women. People are gonna do what they want but maybe some people who didn’t believe their dollars mattered here will change their minds
I know some people waffle under the whole 'no ethical consumption under capitalism' schtick but with JK it's a pretty fucking clear line
Generally but it’s not that simple from what I understand. Either way so much abuse especially against women isn’t criminalized so I don’t think that really should matter when talking about getting rid of them
Man I just googled this and the way it’s being discussed by media and other people with influence is gross as hell. Everyone just assumes it’s a money grab because of the attorney she has, and everyone interpreting a phone call where he said he would choke the shit out of her after she called him manipulative in the best of all possible lights for Sharpe (she was 19 when they started dating so he probably was manipulative). Sports media and really male sports in general is a cesspool of rape apologists. Maybe he can show she is lying but let him do that before you just assume so.
The other super gross thing that doesn’t get mentioned enough in these is the famous celebrity naming the accuser. Laws protecting women are so fake that although they are entitled to be anonymous there are no repercussions for just naming them publicly. It was a tactic made famous by Kobe Bryant and his team in his criminal case, and his victim went on to receive nonstop slut shaming abuse from his fans. Wish it was a bigger part of his discussed legacy. I’m seeing Sharpe’s accuser’s name and photo posted on every story because he decided to make it public. Can’t imagine what she’s dealing with because of that.
I was about to make a comment about Dressed to Kill, but I just looked it up and it appears that was Michael Caine, NOT John Lithgow, and now I'm questioning all of my film knowledge
