Not to me. I get comic books signed by my favorite artists and writers at conventions. I have a separate shelf for them for sentimental reasons and memories.
Autographs are fun if you’re just using it as a fun keepsake or expression of your fandom. It’s very dumb when you see those assholes with 20 Funko Pop boxes stalking celebrities at the airport.
I also think artists that sell autographs as a extra with vinyl/CDs should be transparent with whether they actually signed it or used a machine.
I had Derek from Mayday Parade sign the back of my iPod and it rubbed right off the metal within like 10 seconds and had to go back to him to sign my student ID instead lol
The same thing happened to me when I met Thom Yorke last year and had him sign my phone case (it was all I had) and it rubbed off so quickly lol I was so disappointed
I once went to a wrestling event and there were people signing autographs before the show, one guy brought a Playboy that one of the girls was on for her to sign... All while his kid aon was right next to him.
More places should call that shit out when it happens imo. Respect to them for not just calling him out, but tagging him
100%. I was mulling over whether "being a dick" is the kind of accountability issue we need to discuss in threads like this, but I think when it involves mistreatment of food service or retail workers by someone because their celebrity makes them feel entitled (especially if they make someone cry), it should be called out, and likewise, I'm glad they did and i'm glad they made sure he saw it
Like when James Corden was called out by that restaurant. Though they did go back on it when he was forced to apologize cuz everyone now knew he was a dick
Yeah I mean sometimes ppl need to be humbled like Ariana getting that backlash for spitting in the donuts. Even though I feel like most of the time they just get smarter and not nicer lol
Licked donuts that were on display for sale when the employee wasn't in view. if I remember correctly they only realized she did it because they watched the security footage back. But she also commented how she hates America/ns I think in the context of lolz we're fat from donuts. She's one of those girls who seem to really enjoy being smol/petite and has that as a big part of her identity. Then that opened the floodgates of people sharing their rude Ariana stories. I imagine she's still unpleasant but she's smarter about it in public now except when it comes to dating married guys I guess. See also, Christina Aguilera who I think is probably also still an unpleasant diva but was humbled enough during the Bionic era to be a smidge less overtly rude in public
like 6 months ago or so every Disney world employee was like Ariana is a monster who makes our life hell haha
And then she got a ton of goodwill after Mac and the Manchester incident as she should've because those things were extremely traumatic, but then torpedoed it all with the SpongeBob dude. Interesting trajectory.
