Pod Meets World did an episode about this specifically recently and it was a heartbreaker to listen to. They brought on a professional therapist to talk them through what happened and both Will and Rider were so deeply ashamed, embarrassed, and even scared still to this day to talk about it out of fear of repercussions. That’s how manipulative this guy was and how thoroughly he embedded himself in their psyches. Rider said he went to a party a while back and, while there, this guy showed up and approached Rider and started talking to him as if nothing had ever happened. Rider then walked away, had a panic attack, and told his wide they needed to leave. And the dude still works with kids.

 

Important to note that there was a victim in the situation that wasn’t them that was up against all of this. Can’t imagine what it was like for the victim to see all these popular people supporting the person who abused them

Apparently the author of the Animorph books is supportive of trans kids. This is refreshing to see after all the JKR news I see.

 

Yes! This is one of the reasons I’ve always loved her. She’s been this way from the start and I remember her making supportive statements all the way back when I was reading Animorphs as a kid. She was one of those authors who helped me maintain an open mind and heart while I was growing up in a very close minded home. I credit her a lot for that.
