but he never shared any identifying details about her (so not sure where your 'he doxxed her' lies are coming from)... and literally the only thing about the story that he embellished was that the "we don't want you in photos with our daughter" conversation came a few days before prom rather than the night prom itself
He allegedly showed her real photo at the off Broadway performance before taping the special and I think she claims he didn’t do enough to hide her identity when he performed the story, which is how people found her. I think the article also alleges that he invited her to embarrass her but that claim is hard to verify. He doesn’t need this much defending imo
She also says he tried to bring this stuff up to him and he kind of shrugged it off. His response was that she was always friendly in emails and that he told her to scrub her social media. That’s kind of shitty. It’s not the worst accountability issue anyway, probably the worst part was around the environment of his show.
I mean he brought the receipts showing that she told him she was coming to the show, not that she was invited, while also warning her of some content he spotted that should be scrubbed. If he had wanted to embarrass her, I don't think he would've done that. if he did show a photo of her at one point yeah that definitely shouldn't have been done. But mistakes happen, and he's made it clear that he doesn't blame her for what happened. They were both young, any blame there is lies on her parents. But ultimately he should be allowed to tell his story -- yeah the internet does create a tricky world for comedians and other public figures because it's hard for anything to stay truly secret, but when the alternative is telling a brown guy not to talk about his lived experience with racism... idk. there are certainly legitimate concerns with how he treated the staff on this show. But seeing his response, and the stuff he told the New Yorker that was left out of the article, it does also come across as being written by someone who has an axe to grind against Hasan. I'd rather people hold him accountable for the stuff that matters, not for embellishing a few details to make the audience better connect with how he was feeling at the time the events happened.
The recordings he played from the interview make it clear that the writer very much ultimately distorted a lot of what he himself said. Which imo basically makes the whole article suspect. It makes it look like the writer’s highest concern was telling a tantalizing story, not being accurate. Ironically the same critique they have about Hasan lol, but at least he has the justification of it being for the sake of a performance. I don’t know if that article is the sole source for any of the complaints about how he treated the show’s staff, or if it’s been out there beyond that. But if they are legit then the article has done a huge disservice to them, because everything gets lumped together and nobody knows what to ultimately trust because we’re all just hearing it from a source who is now shown to not exactly be the most reliable in the world
The reports about his show are from late 2020 ETA: kind of hard to search for right now because everything is talking about the current situation (which I haven’t had a minute to look into yet) but I think this is the short thread that started the conversation
People making jokes about the Depp/Heard trial were always deranged. Incredibly weird that they continue to persist.
If your head is so far up your ass that you can’t understand that’s a shitty thing to do from a human standpoint, how do you not at least say to yourself “gee, I wonder what ramifications this could have in my career as an actor”
I saw her on Jeopardy a few weeks ago painfully whiffing every joke she attempted to make, spending the entire game in the negative, and then losing with $0. I don’t feel bad for her anymore! What an asshole
No one has ever said anything good about Eckhart. A fantastic actor that has anger issues and other problems that's been widely discussed online and in the industry. Can't people just stop being pieces of shit?
Yeah, the article seems a little more nuanced than the headline but I'll def take a look to see if there's anything about him out there that I've missed.
Yeah, just do some googling and you'll see a lot of stuff about how he was on his way to be a big deal but he shot himself in the foot by being extremely difficult to work with
