I do think there's a bigger discussion to be had here about "how long" and all that. Like I think there are obvious cases where the person never deserves to be heard from again, but otherwise...how long do you "stay away"? etc.
I had never actually looked up the petition until now but this is apparently literally the only thing it says about the charge itself lol "His arrest follows an American arrest warrant dating from 1978 against the filmmaker, in a case of morals." I am curious to know who actually worked to write the petition vs. who just signed it
I doubt many people care about the particulars, but one of the biggest issues with the Polanski case is misconduct by the judge. Polanski, the victims' lawyers, and the judge had agreed to a plea bargain only for the judge to decide to make a name for himself. The victim has said that the judge caused more harm to her than Polanski did. That isn't to defend what Polanski did (and he has been accused of doing similar things since then) and his sentence was way too lenient, but the rule of law is important. That was a big part of the response to the 2009 arrest.
Her point in that last tweet is something I think about a lot. The domino effect these awful people cause is massive
It's tough when it comes to so many people involved. I get SMG's point completely, but at the same time, there's one scene where there's a slow pan in on teenage Dawn's butt for no reason, that hits even more awkward now with all that's come out about Joss. I want to enjoy the show again, but it's hard when stuff like that happens and throws it in your face. I'd rather watch something I know wasn't tied to an abuser. Which hilights her point, it's not her or anyone else on the casts fault Joss is an abuser and they get caught in their work being diminished because of that.
Yeah 100%. I’d love to see Kiersey Clemons’ work as Iris West. I have no intention of doing anything that benefits Ezra Miller. Fucked up world!
he's being charged for fostering an unsafe work environment along with other people who worked on the movie as a producer
Mentioning it here since it's been posted about but Anna Kendrick did a 2.5 hour interview on Armchair Expert talking about her abusive relationship. I think it's good insight for anyone looking to learn more about how these relationships develop and how they play out over time
